to buy or not to buy
First of all, I'm pissed off. I ordered new work boots before Christmas. About a month before, I think, and my boss didn't order them FOREVER. He finally got around to ordering them this week - about Tuesday, I think, and they said they were out of stock of my size.
So yesterday they arrived. And they looked like this:

instead of this:

Now, I know this doesn't seem a big difference, but I REALLY didn't want bump caps on my boots. I think they look dumb. And my boss won't send them back as although having bump caps is more expensive than not, they only billed him for the cheap boots. And it's against his religion not to take advantage of this. Plus who knows how long it would take before I got more boots.
Now, it's been cold enough for the last week that I feel my life would be improved in the workshop and on site by the purchase of some thermal leggings/undergarments for my lower body. Is this just a kneejerk reaction to having a few cold days, or would this actually be sensible? Answers on a postcard. Obviously, if I do buy some, we won't get cold weather again this year. Probably ever again in my lifetime, in fact.
I definitely need some new jeans - cold air is entering in through the rips of some of my old ones. Brrrrr.
We had a fire safety thingy weeks and weeks ago. It's meant that Juju has fitted a few new handles on the fire doors. We still have to undo the one in our workshop by spinning nuts of about a foot of studding though - you don't quite need a spanner to get out, but almost. They've also fitted a red strobe next to the old bell - although no one has ever heard it go off, so I doubt the bell works.
As the electrician was in anyway we asked him to look at the fire box next to my bench (wires go in, other wires go out) as it gives an electric shock if you touch it and then touch my bench. We measured the voltage once and it was around 20 volts. I've learnt not to touch it after getting a few unpleasant jolts. Well, the guy measured it and it now gives a 100 volt shock! I'm glad I learnt when it was just a tickle :)
