the things you find out...
Today I was chatting to one of the guys at work, Paul, and we got talking about Mulberry Harbours and the D-Day landing. And I finally plucked up the courage to ask him about his time in the Navy. (he never talks about it, so I figured he didn't really want to) Anyways - he doesn't mind chatting one bit! It's just that no-one ever asks him.
So i asked what he did in the Royal Navy..and he was only an armoury specialist...underwater warfare. Torpedoes and mines. He knows everything about them! I quizzed him for ages, on everything from the uniform (from firsts - bezzies, to work uniform - eights!).
So if anyone wants me to ask him anything for fandom related scratchings, just yell! He's very informative - and was quite literally Navy, man and boy. He signed up at 15 for the minimum contract - twelve years!!
Oh, and he blew up half of Malta once. By accident. Oops.
