wow
We've just witnessed the most amazing thing.
I was just closing my curtains when I saw this strange light in the sky, so after watching for a few minutes I called for Smecs, and we went out on the balcony in the wind...there were huge flashes of orange lightening, but all way behind the clouds, way out to sea, so they lit some of the cloud masses in silhouette, and other times just seemed to light up the clouds from inside. but all we could hear was the waves and the wind - no thunder. It was such a beautiful sight, and so amazingly powerful. I think the storm will pass by us way out to sea, but we've battened down the hatches just in case. When we moved in here we always said that it would be amazing to see the storms from up here on the seventh floor - but I never expected to see anything like that. It was so other-wordly. (I had to turn off the War of the Worlds CD because it was scaring us). The whole sky seemed to light up far in the distance, and the light was dancing through the clouds - sort of like a defective strip light flickering.
I wish there was a way to capture it better for you all, but you'll just have to imagine it.
