right on, Brighton...
Does the world focus on Brighton? No? Well it sure feels like it does sometimes.
Today it's hot. Very hot. And Jojo and I were doing our weekly trek from his place back to mine. (His sleepy little crime-ridden village to my seafront pad ;))
We knew in advance that today was the annual 'London to Brighton Bike Ride'...(literally thousands upon thousands of people) and naturally, despite our best route planning, we got stuck on the final approach to Brighton. Took us over an hour to make the last ten miles (although the last two were clear, we were just caught in traffic doing a very bad job of getting itself in the proper lanes/routes for going where it wanted, so our clear route got badly mullered)
But EVERY weekend there's something here, almost always involving fleeing London for the coast...
The Vintage London - Brighton (classic cars)
Smart car weekends
Mods weekends
Rockers weekends
Basically, if you can somehow cobble yourself into a group of similar vehicles, you earn the right to head for the Brighton seafront in some ramshackle parade, provided that at least half your number break down in the most inconvenient place. ::shakes head::
I love my town...city, I mean. And I love that other people love it...but why do we organise massive concentrations of people to arrive here at the same time?
And naturally, to be EXTRA helpful, Southern (our train provider in this part of the country) announced that they refuse to take ANY bicycles from Brighton back to London. THANKS GUYS. So there will doubtless be hundreds of people wandering around this evening trying to take in the fact they now have to cycle Brighton-London.
In other news, after being told I was being referred to the back clinic, and they'd send me an appointment card, as the doc couldn't diagnose what was up with me...I've been sent a letter from Brighton Hozza Physiotherapy unit saying I've been referred to them...and I need to phone to make an appointment real soon or they'll assume I'm better. So...uh...why couldn't the doc just give me the phone number? And what happened to the back clinic? I think I have questions to ask when I phone on Monday.
