The vibrant violet hue exceeded her expectations, but something wasn\u2019t quite right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her old furniture clashed with the new color. She scoured the internet for a black velvet sectional sofa, then contacted the old boyfriend again to haul away her outdated couch. The fresh d\u00e9cor delighted her, but something was still off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alone in her redecorated room, Melinda finally pinpointed the missing ingredient \u2014 then called that old boyfriend\u2019s number one more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lori Cramer\u2019s short prose has appeared in <em>Ellipsis Zine, Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Riggwelter, <\/em>and<em> The Cabinet of Heed,<\/em> among others.
