PERMISSIONS POST

- At this point, as far as livejournal RP goes, I am all for drama and torrid relationships but I tend to err on the side of gen(Not for lack of interest). If you want something deeper or sexual with Castor please keep in mind that my character has to actively get to know and feel a spark. Him behaving flirtatiously is not necessarily an invitation because he flirts with damn near everybody. Also I don't tag anything sexual publicly. We can take it elsewhere.

- Castor himself is manipulative and underhanded, but he doesn't have a dual intention with everyone he interacts with and if he does, I will probably make that obvious to you before our characters interact.

- The vast majority of programs don't know Castor is Zuse. If your character really has reason to suspect he is, tell me why you think so and I will tell you if I agree. I believe Quorra, Sams, Clus, Flynns, and obviously Gems would know this.

- Castor is not much of a fighter but I am pretty down with roughing him around. Shoot his arm off, cut off his legs, kill him, whatever(he'll just re-rezz anyways. This probably applies moreso to Grid-lined than anywhere else though). Just PM me that you plan to do him grievous harm (if you don't want to spoil it, that's cool) and we'll be good.

- Any other ideas for tagging? Message me!

Castor loves you

HOWTO.EXE

If one is interested in interfacing with the program CASTOR(Alternatively known as ZUSE in some circles) please refer to below for details.

Castor's Origins.

- Castor is from original Grid in the 1980's Tron. This has been gleaned from his line, "Zuse has been around since the earliest days of the gaming Grid."

- Castor's programmer was never established. I believe it was Kevin Flynn, and that if he started out looking like Flynn that was quickly remedied once Flynn began making changes based on his actual experiences within the Grid itself. Castor is native to the Game Grid, unlike other programs, IE: Ram and Tron. He was built on it's foundations, and the very groundwork of that belongs to Kevin. So by process of elimination....

Castor and the Sirens.

- Castor's relationship with Sirens is subject to change based on who he plays with. I have not locked him into any one headcanon over this. I believe Gem's story has the potential to bend a few different ways; each of them logical and easily explained. Anywhere from Castor turning Gem loose from the games in exchange for taking her under his wing, to her simply being a social climber and putting her chips in Castor's pile -- wanting to play "Key Holder" while Castor plays, "Manager," kind of deal. Either way,Gem found immunity with Castor and it was a mutually beneficial relationship.

Castor and Gem.

- Castor loves Gem. Implicitly, constantly, for-damn-ever. If they had a truly sexual connection is up to whom I play with, but I do believe he would have taken that brand of interest in her given he's overall pleasure-seeking. He loves the way she looks and that out of all the sirens, they have the same color scheme. He loves her poise and grace and her resolve and total placidness in the face of his perpetual, theatrical emotives.

She is very tuned into him, his emotions and she has a deeper mental connection with him than he affords pretty much everyone else. When Sam briefly pokes a hole in Castor's resolve by bringing up Quorra, he nearly chokes on his own voice. Gem has an understated reaction shot here where she looks away, and swallows. The response is sympathetic.

Castor and his Musicians.

Foremost, I personally do not subscribe to the idea that the DJ's are actually Daft Punk and therefore need to be named Guy and Thomas. If someone picks one or both of them up, that's entirely up them, though. Whatever their names are, I prefer to see them divorced from their cameo origins.

My Castor owns the DJ's, lock stock and barrel. That said, he takes care of them, meets all their needs and keeps them cozy. I believe they are more than likely the manifestation of an early music playing program probably also designed by Flynn.

He adores them deeply. I am sure he's had other music programs, or some program working for him with a musical interface in the earlier days. I think they are attentive towards him and although I don't think they are the types he often confides in, he loves to mix them drinks and just straight up spoil them.

My Castor acquired the DJ's earlier on after The Purge. I believe they had gotten themselves into some kind of neck of trouble and Castor stepped forward and bartered with a Black Guard in exchange for their safety and stipulated that they now belonged to him. Although he had Gem, he was still emotionally vulnerable from the loss and seeking to fill it with any brand friendship and found solace in their company. These are the vaguest workings of a plot I would love to bring to fruition one day if I find someone who's willing to pick up his Boys and can do them justice.

Castor and Relationships.

I challenge other players to get on Castor's good side, be of use to him and gain his loyalty, because it is not something he is prone to simply giving away. His deeper affections begin and end with Gem, and his Boys. I believe he holds others in higher favour and being as pleasure-seeking as he is, he's been in brief, torrid romances with others but he's quick to call it off when it gets too close for his comfort.

He enjoys spoiling those he finds himself fond for, but because he is not interested in having deeper relationships with anyone other than Gem he regards relationships outside his tiny inner circle with a lot of whimsy. He can come across as far more feeling, intimate and engaged than he really is because he prides himself on being personable, and manipulative. In short, it's difficult to make Castor care.

His closed-off attitude towards relationships stem from losing scores of friends in The Purge -- most of them ISO's, though I'm sure many were pro-ISO supporters who fought with him in saving as many as he could. Out of all programs, Zuse loved the ISO's most openly and suffered deeply for it. He knows he's lucky to have survived for as long as he has because of his previous alliance with them.

At this stage, Castor is completely settled into who he is now and he doesn't dwell on what made him the way he is. He is aware, but he's well beyond being dewy eyed over it(unless maybe he's face-to-face to Quorra, or another ISO).

Castor and Basics.

- Castor does not put himself on the same level as Basics, and I believe he is justified in those feelings. He is a very advanced program who outgrew his designations and sought higher ground, so to speak. That said, he has not emancipated himself from his minding the angles. He is not capable, nor interested in disobeying the constant calculations that are perpetually being weighed in his peripheral programming. It's a gift and it's allowed him to elevate himself to a higher status than the vast majority of programs because he has often implicitly known which odds lie in his favor.

With that said, Castor's base programming does not necessarily make him some kind of prophet. He's simply a whiz at calculating odds, not definite certainties. His own arrogance in believing he had leverage with Flynn's disc is what led to his death. Castor. Is. Arrogant.

Castor and ISO's

- When the ISO's did begin to show up, it fell to Castor to help designate them about the Grid and establish ways to keep the system from becoming overcrowded by allocating them appropriately in Flynn's absence. Once Arjia was built and the ISO's found ways to regulate their constantly spawning population on their own, he opened the ISO-Friendly Bar (which I sincerely doubt was named End of Line, and that Castor looked a damn thing like he does now).

( I would be inclined to believe the ISO-Neutral bar was a more primitive version of the End of Line in Zuse's sector because Quorra's most likely had the map leading to his little piece of the city since before The Purge. It was not however, End of Line back then. )

Castor and Quorra.

This is also subject to change based on the Quorra's he interacts with, but this is his stance on her:

While it was definitely a knife through Castor's chest to learn she was still alive, he quickly forced himself to move beyond it for the sake of business. The political tides were already moving too quickly -- he had already alerted the Black Guard of Sam's location by the time he found this out. He'd chosen his angle and after alerting the black guard, he had to stand by it. In his mind, given the probabilities, Quorra being the last known ISO probably didn't make a difference in the way of political leverage. Castor assumes she would be tortured for information about Flynn and promptly killed; which was probably the case.

I also believe that Castor took it personally Quorra never went to him herself even though she apparently trusted him enough to send Sam. He can ruminate over this from several different angles if he considers her reasoning, and he supposes the foremost one would be she stayed out of his sight to keep Zuse out of harm's way once she learned through hearsay that he was still active. There is guilt here, but if he's going to resolve it, he's going to resolve it with Quorra. He's not about to languish in it.

Whatever their past was, it's very plausible he had legitimate feelings for her. They were close, and her earnest trust of him speaks volumes. She had not counted on the cycles changing him the way they had. Undoubtedly they had an intimate understanding of each other, though that isn't to say it was necessarily sexual.

Castor and Zuse.

Very important. Will update soon!

This manual is will be updated as necessary.

<s>(hurrr fancy headcanon guide)</s>
