worlds & settings

share your setting;
To apply for a character from a different world, you need to comment here with the information from the form below. But before you do, remember: SPLISS is a collaborative work and you should be willing to let people join in either with specific characters or new ones.

Worlds with open setting are open to the general public and you don't need to ask permission to the original creator, moderator or player. On the other hand, locked setting means the reverse, so if you want to play a character from that world you should contact the creator/s. Just because you were denied, don't run off making a world that resembles that one. If your concept is pretty much the same to one already accepted, it will be rejected unless you have established characters with a solid background and personality. Originality is what we aim for her.

Characters from modern Earth do not need to apply here. Furthermore, people originally from Hamletville are okay.

world's name
Name: ( Your name/handle. )
Personal Journal: ( Your personal journal. )

Brief summary: ( Compile your information into some few words - no more than 150 words. )
World Information: ( The setting, the timeline, as much information as you can possibly give. It's okay to give a long survey, but we're fine with a small one as well. Include species that exist and how do they "work", how this or that operates. Although this looks like it has to be extensive, as long as the key points are explained, it will be accepted. Links are also okay. )
Open: ( Yes or no; a yes will classify your world as an open setting, thus allowing other players to join without asking for your permission. IF YOU WANT PLAYERS TO TALK TO YOU FIRST, PUT "LOCKED - ASK FIRST". )

A moderator will either accept or ask for you to revise your world with specific informations. If accepted, you can apply characters from this world as long as they respect the rules.

Constrained to a city which is possibly as big as a whole planet, it is set in modern Earth. It keeps saying "screw you!" to the laws of physic and common sense. It's also no use to reason with it: when you think you've got it figured out, it'll change completely just to mess with you. If you think of the metropolis as something close to a sentient being, you would think right; for example, if a building gets blown to smithereens, it'll probably be back the following day. It can rain chocolate, frogs may bark and trees my punch you in the face. It all depends on how Hamletville is feeling that day.

open setting
The world as we know it - sort of. 101 Metropolis is a sort of mirrored Earth in the near future or a possibly a slightly altered present, which means cities like Chicago and London exist. It's pure and raw there are a lot of situations which are surrounded with the drama of life, with the downside of being influenced by the unnatural, non-human beings like angels and demons, an era which magic and technology work together. It's not unusual to hear about a non-governmental project going on underground of people being turned into super soldiers.

Otherearth is a mirror of our Earth as we know it but here, Others exist. The supernatural, the wicked, the damned, the angels, the saints, they have many names. A slightly darker version of our Earth, subdivided in alternative worlds. The Others keep hidden from humans. Some are aware of their presence. The Otherside can be accessed through dimensional rips. These rips are closed and humans cannot cross them unless an Other pulls them in. To lose a soul means an Other can be killed. Humans souls are strong against the soul's core shattering, which is why eating their souls empowers Others.

Otherearth: Verge is an Otherearth mirror, distinguished by the fact that the realm of the Others is called the Underworld and it's the only dimension that exists, contrary to Otherearth, where various dimensions exist. The portals to it are called Doors and they are always locked. However, there are people who can open them, usually Eliminators, humans that have vowed to destroy the Damned, who can go from the common ghoul to the more wicked devil. The Damned do have a soul (and here the "core" is non-existent), albeit theirs are of a different kind from humans, as only darkness engulfs it and to keep that darkness flowing, they have to devour humans.

The rules are simple: do not cross the Roads. A place which happens to have various dimensions (Roads) that are easily distinguishable among themselves. The Roads can lead to either a world which is mainly medieval or to a world where technology and magic co-exist either in full harmony or otherwise. The Roads cannot be crossed least by an extraordinarily powerful entity. The only requirement to be part of this world is that magic is a constant presence and a great influence in each and every one of the worlds the Roads cross.

It is a world much like our own, where societies operate with technology and build culture, becoming increasingly separated from nature. Humans are unaware that the Sky, Sea and Earth are entities ruling over realms of magic and the power of nature's balance, and that a quest has been cast: if the Sea is to fall into the Sky's graces, he must find the five stars -- The Sun, the Stone, the Thunder, the Shadow and the Bird, now in the shape of five women wearing necklaces that symbolize their hidden names -- and help them find their true love.

It's June 2008 on Earth — an Earth where magic and technology live side by side in relative harmony. Six months ago, on New Year's Day, a catastrophic upswell of magical energy known as the Surge killed much of the world's population and made huge swaths of land unsuitable for habitation, transforming them into dangerous wyld magic zones. Only a handful of major cities remain, becoming the strongholds of humanity. The remaining inhabitants, whether they be powerful mages able to alter the fabric of the world or just everyday, average people, must rebuild in the ashes amid threats from the Otherworld as well as from their own kind.
