JHS Pedals Coyote - Octave Fuzz

Published on March 31, 2026
JHS Pedals Coyote - Octave Fuzz

The JHS Pedals Coyote is an analog octave fuzz that recreates the rare Moonrock Fuzz circuit by Glenn S. Wyllie, a little-documented builder who developed a design outside the established octave fuzz lineage. Rather than following Octavia, Super Fuzz, or Tone Machine architectures, the circuit uses a transformer in an unconventional role as an inductive element that shapes the response of the fuzz stage. This results in a distinct signal behavior where the octave is embedded within the harmonic structure of the distortion rather than generated as a separate effect.

A single Swell / Fuzz / Octave control continuously sweeps through three tonal regions, moving from gated, slow-attack swell to mid-focused fuzz and into aggressive octave-up textures. The pedal responds directly to playing dynamics and instrument volume changes, allowing shifts from saturated fuzz to more controlled drive tones without altering settings. This combination of continuous control and dynamic interaction defines the Coyote as a non-standard octave fuzz with a wide range of accessible textures.

Unsound Circuitry KATO - Glitch Fuzz

The Unsound Circuitry KATO is a dual-section glitch and fuzz pedal built for controlled signal disruption, combining aggressive distortion with real-time pitch instability and decay manipulation. Its split architecture allows each section to operate independently or in parallel, with dedicated controls shaping everything from dense fuzz saturation to unpredictable glitch artifacts that respond directly to playing dynamics.

Originally released in 2023, the updated KATO V2 expands the design with an added tilt EQ for the fuzz section, a third Chaos glitch mode, and stereo output capability that separates fuzz and glitch signals. Internal revisions reduce noise, and the control layout is refined with the Sensitivity parameter moved to an internal trimmer, maintaining flexible input handling while streamlining the interface.

Fairfield Circuitry Placeholder - Bucket Brigade Reverb Placeholder

Fairfield Circuitry Placeholder is an all-analog reverb that implements a digital reverb topology using bucket brigade delay lines, VCAs, mixers, and filtering stages. Built around a Householder reflection matrix, its three-delay-line network produces rapid echo density and complex reflections, creating spaces that shift between recognizable room ambience and unstable, abstract diffusion.

The design emphasizes the interaction between structured algorithmic behavior and the inherent noise and variability of analog circuitry. With continuously variable controls shaping delay relationships, feedback, tone, and modulation, Placeholder can move from tight, near-flanging reflections to dense, evolving reverberation, while retaining the artifacts and nonlinearities of its BBD-based signal path.

TuneWave Wireflow - 4-Track Preamp

TuneWave Wireflow - 4-Track Preamp

Wireflow is a compact saturation pedal that captures the tonal character of cassette-based multitrack recording, based on a single channel from the Tascam 424 Portastudio Mk. I. It introduces controlled drive, mild compression, and harmonic coloration associated with late 1980s to 1990s home studio workflows, where signal limitations contributed directly to the recorded sound.

With a straightforward control set for input gain, output level, and two-band EQ, the pedal allows precise adjustment of saturation and tonal balance. From subtle warmth to more pronounced texture, Wireflow focuses on recreating the response and feel of tape-driven signal shaping in a modern pedal format.

Catalinbread (Cabinet Series) Misnomer - Systech-based Overdrive

Catalinbread (Cabinet Series) Misnomer - Systech-based Overdrive

The Catalinbread Misnomer is an overdrive pedal based on the unconventional Systech Overdrive circuit, combining hard clipping, high-gain op-amp amplification, and a resonant band-pass filter. Unlike standard overdrive designs, its narrow, high-Q filter produces a focused, vocal-like response that can resemble a fixed wah or even synth-like tones.

Expanded with a clean blend control and flexible filter routing, the Misnomer allows parallel signal mixing and external effect processing. These additions address the original circuit’s compression and low-end loss while enabling a wide range of applications, from subtle enhancement to highly filtered, unconventional textures.

Mr. Black Stereo Vintage Ensemble Professional

The Mr. Black Stereo Vintage Ensemble Professional is a stereo chorus and vibrato pedal that builds on the classic ensemble-style modulation of the late 1970s while introducing a dual-engine architecture and modern control features. It retains the recognizable modulation character of the original design, including its delay-based chorus voicing and pitch vibrato capability, while replacing fixed mode switching with a continuous wet-dry blend for seamless control over the effect range.

In addition to its traditional chorus operation, the pedal expands into true stereo processing with independently modulated left and right delay lines that move in opposite directions, creating a shifting spatial effect when heard across two outputs. With tap tempo, preset recall, expression control, and full MIDI integration, it combines vintage modulation behavior with flexible performance and studio connectivity.
