- Bio
- Christa Angelios is the owner and local word witch of MetaMythica Literary. Her literary grimoire includes creative coaching, authenticity reading, editing, and proofreading for the metafictional, magical, and macabre. She loves horror, folklore, and mythology, as well as postmodern literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, and poetry. She works with both genre and literary writers, specializing in upmarket speculative fiction, especially with a metafictional or postmodern twist. While novels and series are her bread-and-butter, Christa’s especially fond of short-form works—from short stories and essays to poetry. With a history in teaching ESOL, she’s especially suited to working with multicultural fiction and English-language learners. As an intersectional feminist, Christa centers conscious and inclusive language and trauma-informed practices, and champions works with nuance and complexity that challenge the accepted narrative. She advocates for class-conscious policies and mutual aid, and as such, offers sliding-scale pricing to folks under limited economic circumstances. If you would like to contribute to the fund to help support this practice, please let her know. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience/Education: - Currently copyrights associate at Penguin Random House - Former editorial intern at Tor Books and literary agency intern at Dystel, Goderich, & Bourret - Columbia Publishing Course alumna - B.A. in creative writing and business administration from Iowa’s Coe College - Former fiction and communications editor of college literary magazine The Coe Review - Former poetry editor of Christian horror literary magazine The Midnight Diner - Former ELA/ESOL teacher and tutor to over 50 students from 7 countries - Member of the Editorial Freelancers Association -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Services: - Writing and Creator Coaching - Authenticity Reading - Manuscript Evaluation - Substantive and Developmental Editing - Copyediting and Line Editing (not currently accepting) - Proofreading (not currently accepting) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional Training: - Worldwide Story Structure by Yoonmi Kim (Clarion West) - Creative Recovery & Self-Care for Writers by GG Renee Hill (The Writer's Center) - Trauma-Informed Editing by Iva Cheung (Editors Canada) - Using the Folklorist's Toolkit for Fiction by R.B.
