What happened with the McMaster Textbook? Why does it look different?
The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine has moved to a new educational platform: ebm.one. The old website that used to host this content is no longer available.
Will my old account be transferred automatically?
No, user data will not be transferred automatically to ebm.one. You will need to register a new account on the platform when prompted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Do I need to pay for access?
ebm.one hosts content that is open access or requires a premium access fee. The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine is part of the premium collection, requiring a universal subscription fee.
If your school or society has institutional access, the subscription fee is not applicable, and your access will continue through your institution. As most institutions offer off-campus access based on your e-mail domain, please make sure to register with your official university e-mail account.
I used to have an active subscription. What should I do?
If you currently have an active subscription to the McMaster Textbook, please contact our editorial office at [email protected] to arrange for the transfer of your active subscription to ebm.one. Our team will do our best to ensure a smooth transition for all our subscribers.
How much will access cost?
We have worked hard to keep our pricing as low as possible while maintaining the quality and comprehensiveness you expect. Our subscription rates of $30 CAD per year or equivalent remain highly competitive within the medical education market, and affordability remains our core priority. We believe that access to quality medical education resources should not be prohibitively expensive, and our pricing structure reflects this commitment.
What happens to the revenue generated from subscriptions?
All funding generated through subscriptions is reinvested directly back into the platform and content. This means funding for improved hosting infrastructure to ensure fast, reliable access; development of new clinical resources and educational materials; regular updates to reflect the emerging medical evidence and guidelines; and enhanced features to improve your learning experience. Your subscription directly supports the creation of the resources you and your colleagues rely on for professional development.
What about mobile apps?
Please note that the mobile apps will not be receiving any new updates, but they will continue to be offered on an “as-is” basis. We encourage you to access the McMaster Textbook through the ebm.one website for the most current content and features.

What is the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine?
The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine is the first Canadian textbook of internal medicine developed at McMaster University, the birthplace of problem-based learning (PBL) and evidence-based medicine (EBM) and one of the leading medical schools in the world. Covering the essential fields of internal medicine, it is aimed at answering the needs of medical professionals and trainees who seek access to updated, verified medical knowledge useful in everyday practice.
The textbook responds to the medical community’s increasing need for reliable, accessible information in an era of rising resource costs and expanding medical knowledge.
The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine is the product of an extensive and highly successful collaboration between McMaster University, Medycyna Praktyczna publishing house, and medical nonprofit Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine.
