Hotel Issues
Sorry to take so long to get back to you all, but as you can realise, the relevant people have been dealing with individual queries and also talking to the hotel.
A face-to-face meeting with the hotel staff is taking place shortly. They are aware of the problems we've identified with their booking system, and we're all working to resolve them. We are also working on reducing the published room rates, but as Hayley said, our original negotiators who understood more about convention economics are both on maternity leave.
Meanwhile, I can confirm that car parking costs will be £3.00 inc vat per 24hrs.
Internet access is confusing. Gaspodex wrote a useful LJ piece about how it worked for DiscWorld http://community.livejournal.com/eastercon2011/804.html . The wifi for the public areas is run by BTOpenWorld and the hotel have no control over their pricing, so cannot reduce the rates for us. However I understand it is possible to get deals for this by purchasing in advance, and we've got someone researching this.
PLEASE NOTE - this is a duplicate of an entry on http://community.livejournal.com/2011illustrious. Comments are enabled there BUT NOT HERE to make sure that discussion is coherent and we don't miss any crucial comments.
