I'm not really worried about making DVD backups or anything, that takes way too long.

Also, i downloaded a Torrent Movie and one of of them, when I downloaded it came in 2 separate files.

Is there a way to combine these 2 files into one movie file?

Thanks!

Problem is, I have all these files now and I don't know how to burn them. I extracted the files I got, and they're all VOB, BUP, and IFO files. I can play the DVD here on my computer, but when I try to add all the files to a DVD burning program, it says it doesn't support some of the files. Can someone tell me how I would go about making this DVD?

DivX-enabled DVD Players

I'm planning to buy a DVD player that can play DivX, XviD, .avi, and other formats that most other players can't play. I think I'd like to get either the Toshiba SD-3990 or the Philips DVP642.

I've been reading really conflicting opinions on both of these as to how well it actually plays DivX, and how flimsy and poor quality they are in general. I would really like more input from anyone who has either of these players. Can it handle stuff like anime with subtitles? How often do you have problems with it not playing these files correctly or at all? Will it play DVD-Rs or does it need to be DVD+R?

Also, I haven't bought a DVD player outside of DVD burners for computers in quite a long while, so sorry if this is a really stupid question, but can these DivX-enabled players only play these files on DVDs or can they also play CD-Rs with video files?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

x-posted to a couple of other places.

Hi! I'm a total noob to this, and I come with a really basic question. How do I rip a movie from the (store bought) DVD to my computer so that I can then put it on my iPod? File conversion's not really a problem - I've been using ffmpegx for that and it seems to recognise the most random formats, so the real issue is what software I need to rip the movie. I have a G4 iBook running Mac OS 10.3.9. Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

Furthermore, it'll say something like: Title 2 [minutes] and Title 5 [minutes] right underneath, but the two episodes will both be the same one! Does anyone know how in the world I can fix this? So far, I've been able to access about 3 out of 8 episodes :( ...

I recently ripped a few DVDs to my hard drive using DVD Shrink 3.2, I can view the video just fine through Shrink. But the thing won't play like a DVD, it just goes straight through all the footage linearly, and I can't enable things like commentary to play. Is there a program to download to view these ripped-to-hard drive DVDs as though it was an actual DVD?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi!

I Just recently purchased the Philips 642 divx compatible dvd player and it's great, it plays almost everything I burn onto a dvd with amazing quality. I've run in to a slight problem and was wondering if anyone knew what the cause was and how to fix it.

Basically, certain files I burn onto my dvds, when I play them back on my player will show up extremely pixelated and the colors are all weird, like blues and greens on peoples faces. It makes whatever video unwatchable. If anyone could help me figure this out, i'd be highly appreciative.

Hi all. I'm brand new to the community.

I've run into a slight snag in an effort to back up some of my favorite movies (honestly) and I was hoping someone could help me.

This is my first dvd burner so please forgive any misused terms I might use.

A few days ago I was experimenting with ways to backup my movies (I have a combo dvd/cd writer and an empty expansion bay.) I downloaded a Nero 6 demo and quickly gave up. A few days later a friend recommended I try DVD Shrink. I simply installed it and it worked out great. I would load the dvd, it would back up, ask for a blank disc, then burn it. No problems.

I made the mistake of unistalling my Nero 6 demo after discovering DVD shrink - not realizing this was the program DVDShrink was using to burn the movies directly after backing them up. I re-installed Nero 6. Except now when the dvd has backed up and Shrink asks for the blank disc, the burn process fails and I receive the following message:

Windows XP 5.1

It seems to happen just as the writer begins its burn process at 2.4x I uninstalled both programs and re-installed them in the order I did the first time and it did nothing to help the situation.

At some point I stupidly de-selected the "create Audio_TS and Video_TS subfolder" option. I think this maybe be part of the problem. Only I don't know how to re-select it.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can fix this problem? Or even other programs/software that might work better for my needs?

Let me know if you need further details about the problem/my computer. Thank you very much in advance.
