A regulatory state corporation seeks to fill the position of General Manager \u2014 Phytosanitary Services.<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities include:
\n\u2022 Initiate, plan and co-ordinate matters relating to crop pests and disease control.
\n\u2022 Develop, co-ordinate and implement operational policies, standards and procedures relating to phytosanitary services and biosafety.
\n\u2022 Co-ordinate the grading and inspection of plants and plant produce at the points of entry and exit.
\n\u2022 Establish strong linkages and collaboration with various local and international organizations involved in the field of plant protection.<\/p>\n
Person\u2019s Profile
\n\u2022 Must be a holder of a PhD degree in Crop Protection or other related fields like Weed Science, Entomology, Pathology etc.from a recognized university and demonstrate exposure to biotechnology and biosafety.
\n\u2022 This position reports to the Managing Director and so experience at a senior management position for at least five years will be necessary.
\n\u2022 Demonstrate strong management and leadership skills and the drive to achieve excellence and have an appreciation of National Agricultural Policies.
\n\u2022 International exposure to WTO-Sanitary and Phytosanitary agreement issues, FAO,The International Plant Protection Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity will be an added advantage.
\n\u2022 \u201cHands on\u201d skills on developing, mentoring and achieving results through people.
\n\u2022 A strong bias on \u201csoft skills\u201dand visible interpersonal traits.
\n\u2022 A strong science base with a publication track record in refereed international journals relevant to crop protection.<\/p>\n
