In addition to our headquarters in Washington DC., CEDPA operates offices in India, Nepal, Nigeria and South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><\/span><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Position: Gender Expert<br \/>Location: Sokoto, Nigeria<br \/>Reports to: Senior Technical Advisor, Gender and Governance<br \/>Salary: Negotiable, per experience and qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Gender and Local Advocacy Specialist <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><br \/>The Gender Expet1 will function as a member of a team implementing a USAID-funded local governance and civil society program in Nigeria. The Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Development (LEAD) program is a five-year program that builds partnerships between civil society, state and local governments and the private sector to improve state and local governance capacity in Bauchi and Sokoto states, and to build the capacity of local governments to be more responsive to community needs. The Gender Expert will be responsible for ensuring that gender considerations are mainstreamed throughout program activities including: <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">\u2022 Designing and conducting state-of-the-art training and follow up technical support in gender integration in program design and implementation, gender and participatory budgeting and other topics relevant to the project\u2019s on-going training activities. Training and follow up will be provided to project staff, local government authorities, and CSOs.<br \/>\u2022 Providing technical assistance in gender for all program activities such as: reviewing assessment tools, manuals, laws, and other project documents; making specific recommendations and providing follow up support to ensure that gender is integrated into activities and documents.<br \/>\u2022 Identifying and scaling up best practices in gender and water\/sanitation throughout project initiatives.<br \/>\u2022 Designing and implementing gender-sensitive data collection and monitoring and evaluation tools.<br \/>\u2022 Documenting gender related activities and outcomes for an external audience. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Required Knowledge and Experience: <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><br \/>\u2022 Expertise in gender and service delivery, especially water provision, sanitation and health care.<br \/>\u2022 Expertise in gender budgeting and planning.<br \/>\u2022 A solid trainer with expertise in training in traditional areas. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><br \/>\u2022 Training and providing follow-up support to project staff in gender integration in project programming.<br \/>\u2022 Develop and oversee the implementation of management tools that ensure gender integration into project programming.<br \/>\u2022 Design participatory and gender sensitive processes that enable communities to identity and articulate service delivery needs particularly as they relate to health care, education, water and sanitation.<br \/>\u2022 Design and conduct activities related to:.<br \/>\u2022 Making LGAs more responsive to gender considerations and the needs of women (gender needs assessments, gender budgeting, designing participatory stakeholder engagement processes); and<br \/>\u2022 Building the capacity of CSOs to advocate for LGA resources that improve health and social outcomes for women.<br \/>\u2022 Work collaboratively with other members of the LEAD technical team<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to project reporting and documentation<br \/>\u2022 Represent CEDPA on LEAD with partners and communities at the highest standard to ensure strong acceptance and implementation support for activities <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Requirements: <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><br \/>\u2022 Masters degree and or Bachelor\u2019s degree with five years experience working on gender.<br \/>\u2022 Training experience<br \/>\u2022 Experience in the area of participatory and gender needs assessments.<br \/>\u2022 Strong communication and organizational skills.<br \/>\u2022 Bilingual-Hausa speaker is a must.<br \/>\u2022 Willingness to travel between Sokoto and Bauchi. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;\"><b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Method of Application<\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"><br \/>To apply for this position please send your CV and cover letter by mail to <b>Resumes@Cedpa.org<\/b> with \u201cGender Expert\u201d on the subject line.
