ILRI has campuses in Kenya (headquarters) and Ethiopia, with other offices located in other regions of Africa (Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria) as well as in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka), Southeast Asia (Laos, Thailand, Vietnam) and East Asia (China).<\/p>\n<p>The position:<br \/>\nThe Project Development Manager (PDM) position would be part of the team developing, piloting, assessing the impact of, and scaling-up index-based livestock insurance (IBLI) products.<\/p>\n<p>A comprehensive pilot has already been launched in Marsabit district of Northern Kenya and research into its implementation in Southern Ethiopia has already begun (see, www.ilri.org\/ibli). The PDM will play a key role in managing the operations of the project team and the implementation of its agenda.<\/p>\n<p>This includes facilitating effective engagement between the suite of public\/private partners needed to successfully meet the project\u2019s objectives. In addition, the PDM will support the project team by coordinating project-specific functions relating to budgets, reporting and administration. Finally, the PDM will oversee the development and implementation of the project\u2019s communication and output dissemination strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Specific Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Partnerships<br \/>\n\u2022 Engage and coordinate partners to ensure that the project implementation agenda is pursued in a timely and comprehensive manner<br \/>\n\u2022 Liaise with stakeholders and partners to align expectations as necessary for project implementation success<br \/>\n\u2022 Work closely with partners in the development of marketing and extension tools, and in the development of various documents needed for the insurance operations<br \/>\n\u2022 Participate in the project steering committee<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop and implement a strategy for identifying and engaging with key strategic partners for scaling up IBLI concepts and products.<\/p>\n<p>Project Management<br \/>\n\u2022 Harmonize all activities related to project development and implementation<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage project funds<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinate project administrative functions<br \/>\n\u2022 Prepare periodical project progress reports for donors<\/p>\n<p>Communication<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop a communication strategy to share IBLI results and experiences in partnership with other ILRI professionals and partner organizations.<br \/>\n\u2022 Work with the partners to identify and develop appropriate dissemination strategies for IBLI.<br \/>\n\u2022 Facilitating links with other communication functions at ILRI<br \/>\n\u2022 Organizing\/ coordinating project workshops\/ conferences<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintaining and updating the project website<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<br \/>\n1. Master\u2019s degree (MPA, MBA, MSc.) and a Bachelor\u2019s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Economics, Business Administration, Management, Commerce)<br \/>\n2. At least 4 years of relevant work experience respectively.<br \/>\n3. Knowledge and\/or experience with insurance, microinsurance or microfinance industries<br \/>\n4. Demonstrable multi stakeholder\/ partner relationship management skills and experience<br \/>\n5. Excellent presentation and oral\/written communication and skills<br \/>\n6. Strong project and financial management skills<br \/>\n7. Ability to conceptualize and initiate projects<br \/>\n8. Creative and dynamic person who can operate both individually and as part of a team<\/p>\n<p>Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI\u2019s Nairobi campus and is open to Kenyan nationals only. The position is on a 2-year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.<\/p>\n<p>Job level and salary: This position is job level 3A and starting salary is KES is 149,833 per month.
