I was MIA for a while. And I've been mostly lurking when I'm on LJ.
LJ & my flist don't seem as active any more, sadly. Has the fandom migrated somewhere else? DW maybe?

There were posts I wanted to make so I could squee (Iron Man III) or rant (Star Trek).
But it's the Elementary finale that's getting me to finally make a post!

I'm really surprised with how much I've come to love this show.
The cases are usually not anything too special or clever.
But the characters! They are superb! I dare say this has become my favourite tv/movies Sherlock. JLM is slaying it! I love that his Sherlock is so human. You can not only see the genius, but also what that does to him. Fantastic stuff!
And Watson is brilliant! Lucy is flawless!
Their interaction is sooooo good. I'm trying my best not to ship it but they are just so adorable together! ♥

And on top of everything, the rest of the characters are great!

I finally managed to get some time off work (first vacation since last Christmas, woo hoo!), so I'm all blissed out by the knowledge that I can just kick back and relax for the next two weeks. :D There's already been a lot of sleeping, doing nothing, eating and catching up with fan fic (fangirl priorities, I haz them).

I got evacuated today!
There was a fire in the apartment directly beneath mine.
Luckily nobody was hurt. Though there was lots of smoke, and my place still smells even though I left the balcony door opened for a looong time. Which, considering it's winter and it was snowing and raining today, wasn't that comfy. *sigh*
Apparently, the lady in that apartment is known for accidentally setting her place on fire, this was third or forth time. Oh joy.

On happier note - more cards arrived! \o/

I'm officially on vacation! First one this year, woot!
So much time off (until New Year).
TV shows, books and coffee dates, here I come!
Plus, Doctor Who special and series 2 of Sherlock - does it get any better than that?! Nope.

Though I started with sleeping through most of today. Ha ha. It's been a crazy few weeks, I really needed to recharge my batteries.
Also, all the food consumed today did not help. ;)
I think I did pretty well on the baking front, considering I was baking some of the stuff for the first time and I ended up burning two of my fingers (ouch) in the process.

Cookies:

Snowmen muffins, and sugar cookies - christmas trees with icing and reindeers without icing. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is actually pink nosed reindeer, but it's kinda fitting that my cookies would end up being a bit gay. :D

Sadly, eggnog did not turn out well. I was expecting something richer in taste and more thick, but yeah - no. Not sure if the recipe wasn't good or if I just failed. Eh, next time, ey?

Easy to make, takes under 20-30 minutes, recipes.
I'm a new cook, and I'm still finding my way in the kitchen. So tips are most welcomed.
I eat meat, am not big on vegetables or greasy stuff, and love cookies and everything with chocolate in it.

4) Muffins.
Anything to do with muffins really.
What's your favourite muffin recipe? (Mine are banana crumb muffins. They are small slices of heaven on earth - try them!)
Have any muffin cups lying around that you don't plan to use? *raises hand* I'll take that off your hands.
Did you do an awesome job of decorating muffins and took some pictures? Post them!

5) Rec me fandomy stuff!
With real life getting turned upside down, new job, the move, and then being without internet for a few months, I missed a lot this year.

I finished seasons 2 and 3.

OMB, season 2 was the most slow burning, most depressing, hopeless thing ever.
I can not believe all those people died and all those lives got wracked for nothing. :( Poor Frank.

Though the season is responsible for best scene ever: Omar testifying! ♥

Season 3 was amazing!!
I even found it funny at times, there were some great quotes.
The whole Hamsterdam plot was so weird but I understand the frustration that led to it happening.
And I was shocked to find that last Stringer/Avon scene so crushing. Oh man, I have no idea when I started caring for those two and their friendship, nor that I cared that much. Just - ouch. :(
Omar continues to be the best thing ever. I enjoyed him teaming up with Mouzone to take down Stringer.

Season 4, here I come!

1) What was up with LJ this weekend? I tried updating but kept getting "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression." :((

2) I wanted to squee over Person of Interest!
Enrico Colantoni (Papa Mars) and Enver Gjokaj (Victor form Dollhouse) guest starred in the last episode!! So good to see them.
Flawless episode!

And why isn't Enver getting more work? He's one of the best actors I've seen in years.

3) Saturday was responsible for the sad sad realization that I'm getting old. lol
A friend was celebrating her birthday, so we went to a concert, and then later clubbing. It was lots of fun. But while once it was no problem to stay out until 5AM, sleep 4-5 hours, and then be back to normal the next day, I was dead tired and sleepy yesterday. So I spent all day dragging myself around the apartment like a sloth.
I had some serious flashbacks to that episode of How I Met Your Mother when Barney is trying to prove he's not "too old for this shit". Yup, I so am. lol

4) I ended up watching The Nanny Diaries last night.
Black Widow and Captain America hooking up. So weird watching it now, heh.

I really do love everything Halloween related, though it's not such a big thing here. Boo. :/
So I settled for making mummy cupcakes this year.
So many cupcake decorating ideas, so little time...

I also watched Grimm last night. Very appropriate. :D
The pilot could have been a bit more polished, but that's usually the problem with pilots. I liked it, especially the atmosphere. Acting could be better, but I'll give everyone time to get into their characters. So far I like the reformed BBW the best.
It's also Greenwalt's new show, and I've always been a big fan of his, so I'll definitely be watching.
I kept thinking where I knew the main dude from, and then it clicked - he was one of the gay soldiers in that one episode of Grey's Anatomy! Neat.

Anyone else watched it?

And there's another fairy tale show, Once Upon a Time, I also enjoyed.
It's a bit more light, but the pilot showed promise, so I'll be sticking with that too.

Also, Psych is kicking ass this season. All episodes so far have been so good! ♥ I've been laughing my ass off regularly.

I wish I could watch shows at work.
It's a slooow day today. Most people took a day off, since tomorrow is All Saints' Day, and I'm bored out of my mind. I finished everything I needed to do, then asked everyone if they needed any help, and I finished all they gave me, too. So, yeah. Three more hours to go...

I was always squicked out with Doctor/Anyone pairing. But I fell for River/Eleven. I have no idea how!! I enjoyed the banter from the start, but was still all "no, thank you" at the idea of a proper ship. But all the bickering and fantastic chemistry between Matt and Alex did me in. *headdesk*

I so hope we see River again. I want moooreee.

I really enjoyed team TARDIS and hope we'll get more than one companion again.

Seriously folks, whether you watch the show or not, just check this vid out and watch Nikita kick ass for 4 minutes. :)

When the show started I fully expected not to like it, since I was a huge LFN fan back in the day and the thought of a remake made me irritated. But. How wrong I was. The show completely took the story in a fresh direction. Characters, both 'old' and new, are interesting. And things get even better when they start exploring their pasts.
So yes, my favourite new show this season. More people should watch it.

bop_radar's vid Threnody will give you a better idea of what to expect from the show. There are some spoilers in it, so beware if you want to stay completely unspoiled.

So yes, if strong, badass female characters are your thing, make sure to give Nikita a chance.

Trust me Clark, our friendship is going to be the stuff of legend.

I hate being sick. :/
I've been sick all week. And while I'm getting better and can at least breathe properly now, I still can't stop coughing and it's so annoying and exhausting. I must be one of the grumpiest people ever when sick.

So to entertain myself with something fun - Smallville finale poll!

First let me just say that I'm extremely amused that:
- Last we saw RealLex he was cradling Clark in his arms and staying to die with him, after telling him he loves him.
- Last we saw FakeCloneLex he came up with this grand plan that pretty much came down to assuring Clark can't get laid, and was all "Well, Lana, he picked you over me, and I'm extremely pissed and jealous, so you can't have him either. Here, be poisonous to him and go away. Neither of us will have him now. So - THERE!"
- While having to pretend he's dead, and thus not being able to do the equivalent of taking a long stick and poking Clark with it, Lex was so bored and clearly missing Clark so much that he thought "Oh, what shall I do. OH! I know! I shall combine our DNA to create a baby!! ~~He'll have to like me then, as I am the father of his child!~~" LMAO forever!

I have no idea why Lex will come back. I have no doubt that he's been behind lots of things that happened since his "death" and that he's been laughing his ass off off screen.
But I would rather like to see him come back as an unlikely ally, and help the good guys take down Darkseid. Before he goes back to "Grr, arggh, we're arch-nemesis and I will end you Clark" shtick. :)

I marathoned all 4 seasons in a week!! I didn't sleep, I just watched it all night, I just couldn't step away. It's really really really my type of show.
Love the action. Love the humour. Love the cast. ♥ Love all the characters!! Love all the guest stars. Love the main ship. Love the yogurt. Just: ♥♥♥!

I also watched bloopers on youtube. How do they get anything done on that set with Bruce Campbell cracking jokes all the time?! It seems like such a fun set.
And amused that Sharon Gless always have TV sons named Michael. :))
