This will be my first tutorial in a while, even though I shouldn't be regarding it as a tutorial since I'm not really teaching you anything. Regardless, this time it's for blue toned pictures, although I've already done this before. I really adored Scarjo's Mango summer 2010 campaign but realized whoever processed the shots was in a very cool mood, which made them almost impossible to work with. Instead of just defaulting to the selective color option (...first) I gave color balance a shot and fixed the damned thing. After fiddling around I got this and decided that it was subtle but suited the feel.

Wow... Variety is nice. I usually just do icons of Robert but I decided since I barely do text icons, I would implement some of Demetri Martin's jokes into practice. I gotta say I love him, he's so funny and I can understand his jokes. I like how's he's very carefree and doesn't joke on politics and stuff (I'm clueless when it comes to them) but rather on random stuff. Plus he's cute. I tried to make them colorful but I'm a little handicapped when it comes to coordinating colors. Point is, I tried. And of course, there's Rob in there... Just a lot less of him.

Tutorial:

So I was dicking around with CS2 and I noticed that I don't use fill layers very often (actually never) so I was experimenting and came up with this! Mind you, this wasn't the icon I was experimenting on so I had to adjust the settings to work with it (that's if your wondering why in hell the opacities are like super low). Anyhoo, enough with my blehness and let's commence :3

1. Duplicate and set to screen: 68%
2. Fill new layer with #E5E5E5 and set to color burn: 100%
3. Fill new layer with #376f70 set to lighten: 55%
4. Fill new layer with #E02757 set to soft light: 47%
5. Fill new layer with #000325 set to difference: 30%
6. Fill new layer with #BCC2FF set to darken: 54%
7. Fill new layer with #BEFFBC set to soft light: 61%
8. Fill new layer with #470642 set to soft light: 43%
9. New adjustment layer > Selective Color:
Reds: C -36, M 0, Y +100, B +17
Yellows: C +100, M 0, Y -64, B +82
Whites: C +28, M 0, Y -32, B -6
Neutrals: C -4, M 0, Y -11, B +10
Opacity: 79% or to liking.

Meh. Iz so bored. Meh. Okay, now that that's out of my system, let's continue! Because I think I might have been some long last daughter of a sloth I'll just post the .PSD because it takes me 15 years and 3 days to type out tutorials, and this one is fucking long. Doooooooooooood, not kewl. Yeah, anyways I originally used this coloring for a couple of my twilight icons (it looks really good when applied to blehish blue icons) and I was curious as to see what the result would be if I happened to use it on a non-twilight icon. Ho ho ho, very clever. It turns the picture a little redder than I'd like but you can change the opacity of the selective color layers easily. That's the reason the icon is cropped so Lindsay is teensy and the greyish color circle texture is set to multiply (it fixed the redness!) :3 Okay, I'll shut up now. Here's your .PSD.

Bwah ha ha. I decided since I have no life, hence the excessive amount of time, that I would make another journal! The idea of starting fresh seemed appealing and worthy enough of my close attention and hard labor (totally over-exaggerating right now) so I took about five hours to pick out a name and came up with DulcetCake. Dulcet means sweet or sugary and it sounds pretty so I thought 'If dulcet means sweet and cake is sweet, why not combine the two to create a very obvious name?' and so DulcetCake was born. Then it took me one thousand hours to screw around with a code to get my new, very simple, layout. More like a pseudo layout. (Damn you HTML, I curse the day you were born). Anyhoo I've been spending a ridonculous amount of time on CS2 creating icons with Robbie P. and I'm itching to post them! (> <) Oh yeah, I forgot to add that my other journal was loveintoxicated (mostly a tutorial dump). I got sick of the name and went ADD *TeeHee*. ajbsriuajbwobmdrb, I'm very tired so I think I'll ditch the unnecessary introduction (like anyone is going to read this?) and post them icons and then enjoy another mint sleep in my new ikea bed (insert gasp followed by extreme jealousy).
