This week in writing, 10/22

This week included my birthday (and I am still in mid-birthday-weekend-trip) so… less writing. (And I have concluded that I need to let Kinktober go because I’m just picking away for days and days at one day’s story, and missing working on other stuff, so I am pretty decidedly not in The Kinktober Spirit.)

WIPs currently active: 5, since as of this moment I’m not counting the Kinktober thing I was working on.

Words written this week: 1,725

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 142

Born in the Blood: 187, and then I got to a scene break and now I have to figure out the next scene. Oh dear.

Slavefic #6: 176, although I may have to walk back some of it, because it’s possible I got carried away writing things in direct refutation of a frustrating comment on a previous story. Oops.

Wildly Unmanageable Ace!Bitty Longfic: 194

Jack/Bitty angsty happy ending kidfic: 734

Kinktober Day 9 (Sam/Grant, abandoned for now): 292, and finally I have to admit that writing fanfic of an original thing I wrote is crossing some wire in my brain that is making it weirdly difficult to write a PWP?? idek.

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2z00y2K
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at https://dira.dreamwidth.org/752782.html. Mostly thanks to Kinktober, but still, writing! progress!
WIPs currently active: 6

Words written this week: 6,051

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 112

Born in the Blood: 254

Slavefic #6: 405

Wildly Unmanageable Ace!Bitty Longfic: 287

Jack/Bitty angsty happy ending kidfic: 23, shhh it’s more than zero

Kinktober Day 1: 672

Kinktober Day 2: 1,877

<strike>Kinktober Day 6</strike>: 1,017, and then it did not work out, so... I’ll come back around to that one sometime. Probably.

Kinktober Day 8: 1,404, annnnnnd counting. I should finish that, huh?

What I'm Reading Wednesday, 10/4/2017

Two weeks in a row! Look at me go! I managed to function like a human being for like the entire day today, it was sort of amazing. So now I will continue my impressive accomplishments by making a blog post.

Books: I'm five or six chapters into The Soldier's Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian, and after the first three chapters I stopped and bought the next two books in the series on Amazon, so, yes, am enjoying! And juuust stuck a bookmark in Matt Ruff's Lovecraft Country to start reading next. (I usually have one ebook and one physical book on the go at a given time, and I'm trying to remember to read some of the unread books I actually own in between taking out all sorts of things from the library. We'll see how that goes when I'm using the quiet study room at the library five days a week to get writing and other work done.)

Books finished:

Hello Forever by Sarina Bowen, a loosely connected ~sequel~ to Goodbye Paradise. Both of these m/m romances where one or both heroes have faced severe homophobia were originally published under a different name, and have been republished this year as Sarina Bowen titles. AND THEY ARE GREAT. If you are into that kind of angst, which. I am. As it turns out. I loved the way this one handled Cax's resistance to being with a guy, giving him a situation that he feels trapped by for utterly legitimate reasons, and the way his resistance gives way piece by piece (and then, as they say, all at once). <3

The Proposal by Mary Balogh, the first book of the Survivors' Club series, in which it becomes clear that this series is actually a spinoff of at least two OTHER series so now I need a family tree with all of Mary Balogh's books clearly indicated on it to figure out what ELSE I want to read because these are delightful. (Notwithstanding the occasional startling anachronism, like a heroine comparing something from which nothing escapes to a black hole. In 1819 or so. BUT WHATEVER, RECOVERY LOVE STORIES FOR EVERYONE.)

Fic: Today was another day featuring the blessing of a WIP update, this time from Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail which is of course The Best. The Olds!! <3______<3 (also the endnotes say there was a huge continuity error in this chapter but I'm reading at the same pace as chapters are posting so I have totally lost track of continuity anyway so it was just delightful.) Otherwise I have six tabs open, 155 things marked for later, and 34 marked to reread. Oh and now that I have a physical copy I am slowly making my way through Not Without You, which is staggeringly beautiful and A Delight. <3 <3 <3

Fic finished:
(A sampling of stuff I’ve bookmarked recently–you can see all my bookmarks at http://archiveofourown.org/users/dsudis/bookmarks)

I Do (please say you want me) by ceeainthereforthat (Bucky/Steve, E, 82k) - Bucky is a professional dominant, and Steve is the son of a vice president who grew up in the public eye; they meet running together in the same DC neighborhood, and just when they're starting to actually get involved, Bucky's professional life becomes front page news. Steve proceeds to Be Maximum Steve Rogers about it and refuses to cut off contact or throw Bucky under the bus--and for the sake of PR it's decided that Steve should play out a whirlwind romance with Bucky instead, getting married (with a pre-nup guaranteeing Bucky millions of dollars upon their scheduled divorce five years later). EXCEPT GUESS WHAT THEY FALL IN FABULOUSLY KINKY LOVE. Ughhh this was so great, and I adored the pace of reveals and the way they kept edging further and further into actual intimacy. <3 <3 <3

Just Spit It Out by PorcupineGirl (Bitty/Jack, G, 2k) - What happens when you live in a first-words soulmark universe and you hear your soulmate say the words on your wrist--and then realize that YOU now need to say the words HE'S been waiting for for his entire life. And you are, say, a deeply anxious Canadian hockey robot. IT MIGHT BE DIFFICULT. But hooray for fate (and Shitty). <3

All I Ever Wanted by sevenfists (Sid/Geno, E, 10k) - A really lovely story about two dudes finally being ready to be in love with each other. And doing some high altitude training during their bye week, because Sidney Crosby.

This entry was originally posted at https://dira.dreamwidth.org/752059.html.
This week in writing, 10/1

Okay! Things really started coming together this week, which feels really good. Still not at what I would’ve considered a good pace pre-move, but a big improvement from last week!

WIPs currently active: 6

Words written this week: 1,904

WIPs that got no words this week: 2 - Slavefic #6 & ace!Bitty longfic

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 232, leading into a scene that is going to be super? genuinely? fun and light-hearted?? what is going on???

Born in the Blood: 139

Jack/Bitty angsty happy ending kidfic: 639, I literally clicked on the file by accident while trying to open up my kinktober fic and then thought “well, this seems like a good time to make Bitty cry.” So I did that.

Kinktober fic for Day 1 (Bucky/Steve): 894, and yet it is not done, despite today being Day 1 of Kinktober, so… I will. Get on that. Yes.

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2yQU4jJ
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at https://dira.dreamwidth.org/751849.html.
What I'm Reading Wednesday, 9/27/17

...Okay so this also went by the wayside for the last month or so, but otoh I spent a lot of that time not reading much other than, you know, Stardew Valley. So. Let’s catch up!
Books: I’m currently in the middle of reading Snowed In, a m/m romance anthology from Torquere Press, which, uh, folded last year, so the anthology is no longer available. Oops. And I am also three-quarters of the way through The Proposal by Mary Balogh, Book 1 of the Survivors Club series, about which more below.

Books Finished:

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness This was delightful (and also A+ book cover design - it glows in the dark, which I was not expecting, so reading a chunk of it at bedtime and then shutting off the light to discover the book on my nightstand GLOWING WITH AN UNCANNY LIGHT was a truly beautiful moment). It’s a story about being one of the teens not involved in the paranormal drama going down at your high school - and it’s also a really fascinating portrayal of anxiety/OCD (in the narrator) and a variety of other challenging mental health issues in his family members, and the awkward process of breaking away from your family and growing up and figuring yourself out when you think you’re the least wanted, least interesting, least important person in any given group.

Only a Promise by Mary Balogh (Survivors Club #5) I found this one while randomly browsing the romance shelves at my new public library (getting a library card was, obviously, one of the first things I did after arriving) which is why I read it out of order; it’s the kind of series where that doesn’t matter too much.

The eponymous survivors are a group of men variously traumatized by the Napoleonic Wars, plus one woman also traumatized by being captured along wiht her husband and seeing him tortured and killed. The books are all set years after the survivors met each other at the estate of a sympathetic duke in Cornwall; now they have all recovered, more or less, and embarked upon the process of getting back to their lives. Only a Promise concerns Ralph, who has a facial scar and a heaping helping of survivor’s guilt as the only one of his school friends to come back alive. He also has a ducal title to pass on, so he winds up in a marriage of convenience with Chloe, who has suffered a series of disgraces since her debut in Society (and then, YOU WILL NEVER GUESS!!! they FALL IN LOVE EVEN THOUGH THEY TOTALLY SAID THEY WOULDN’T!!!!)

Fic: I’ve got 13 WIPs bookmarked, so I’m following at least that many--If They Haven’t Learned Your Name (!!!!!) updated last night (!!!!!) and Whip Crack updated today, so it is a good time for WIPs right now!

Fic finished: (A sampling of stuff I’ve bookmarked recently--you can see all my bookmarks at http://archiveofourown.org/users/dsudis/bookmarks)

swallows still sing by @icoulddothisallday (Bucky & Steve pre-slash, M, 48k) - Bucky is a German Jew experimented on by Zola at Dachau, and when the Howling Commandos liberate the camp they take special responsibility for Zola’s prisoners. The story is gorgeous and thoughtful and more hopeful than not, but also is an absolutely gutting look at the unspeakable loss and dehumanization suffered by victims of the Holocaust; I managed to hold it together for the early parts and then cried all the way through the last three chapters, but, you know, consider your tolerance for this storyline. (Also it looks like the author is planning on a sequel? *hopeful look*)

~WILD SHIFT IN TONE~

Dudeliet and His Bromeo by @hugealienpie (Derek/Stiles & Bitty/Jack, T, 31k) - Stiles plays lacrosse and Bitty plays hockey and both of them think the feud between their teams is a bit silly, so they circumvent it. Also, you know how I wrote a story about Jack having a back tattoo because my feelings about him and my feelings about Derek Hale are like right next to each other? IMAGINE INSTEAD THAT JACK AND DEREK GET TO BE FRIENDS. !!!!!! Also what if Shitty likes to be naked all the time because he is a werewolf? :D (Oh hey, it looks like THIS author is ALSO planning a sequel?? *hopeful look multiplies*)

This Is the Ghost Story by @taste-is-sweet (Bucky/Steve, T, 45k) - This is part 17 of a series but the first 16 stories are all pretty short and, uh, I have not actually read them yet, so I think you can read this one fine without them as long as you are prepared for the fact that Bucky knows Rodney McKay and Ancient Technology/alien macguffins are a fact of his life from more than just the usual Asgardian directions. THE POINT IS: Bucky gets amnesia, AGAIN, but since the Winter Soldier ALWAYS has amnesia he doesn’t think to tell anyone for a while. OHAI BUCKY-THINKS-STEVE-IS-THE-NICEST-HANDLER KINK, NICE TO SEE YOU. :D

nter your cut contents here.

This week in writing, 9/24

…Next week will probably be better? I moved a week ago today, and came down with a cold a few days after that, so this has not been a week conducive to doing… much of anything. (Except playing Stardew Valley. So much Stardew Valley.) But I am alive! And I did write more than zero words this week! And I am trying to get back into familiar routines, so here we are.

WIPs currently active: 6

Words written this week: 817

WIPs that got no words this week: 3 - broken dick epic, ace!Bitty longfic, Jack/Bitty kidfic

WIPs that did get words this week:

Born in the Blood: 223, and I have nearly! made! an important! transition! almost! maybe!

Slavefic #6: 203, and Threetoo! is thinking! some thoughts! about! something! I think I remember what I figured out about this literally a month ago! probably!

Kinktober fic for Day 1 (Bucky/Steve): 391, and I have remembered that the key to writing genuinely short PWP for me is “start with both characters in bed and at least one of them naked” so good job me.

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2hoJBaL
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/751253.html.
What I’m writing, 8/20

…Some weeks just not starting more ginormous WIPs is the real success, okay? I expended a lot of focus on absolutely positively not starting SEVERAL things this week (and… yep, that is definitely the only thing that was using up brain processing cycles this week at an unusual rate, YEP, TOTALLY).

Anyway.

WIPs currently active: 5, because I bumped All Eternals Deck #2 off the list until I figure out what happens after the beginning.

Words written this week: 4,041

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 883, and I started writing Chapter 47 and then abruptly discovered where the floating point on the outline labeled [particular sex act redacted]? should go in the story, so. Whee!

Born in the Blood: 276, chugging along toward [more sex acts redacted]!!

Slavefic #6: 104. Okay, that looks bad? I’m at the point where I outlined things for this part of the series literally almost two years ago and now have to figure out how to hook them up with the stories that I’ve actually written, so there’s a bit of frantically-jury-rigging-a-round-CO2-filter-from-square-components going on. Hopefully none of which will be apparent from the end result. :)

Wildly Unmanageable Ace!Bitty Longfic: 661

Jack/Bitty angsty happy ending kidfic: 2,117

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2x4lly5
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/750406.html.
What I'm reading Wednesday, 8/16/17

Books: Currently in the middle of Abroad by Liz Jacobs, Who Is One Of Us, and about to start reading... one of the two books I still have checked out from the library about the Chicago River and what its deal is.

Books finished: I just finished rereading Persuasion and IT CONTINUES TO BE THE BEST OF THE TWO JANE AUSTEN NOVELS I HAVE EVER ACTUALLY READ.

To the surprise of no one, I did in fact mentally work out the AU where Bitty is Anne, and then staranise lured me into joining her contemplation of the AU where JACK is Anne and in conclusion I am definitely not writing any Persuasion AUs ever.

...Because I am totally onto "what if Jack hadn't gotten an NCAA waiver to play at Samwell after playing in the QMJHL" AUs now.

Ahem. Where was I. READING THINGS, RIGHT.

Fic: Still 15 WIPs bookmarked! maculategiraffe's Fallout 4 series updated today and IT IS GREAT AND MIGHT EAT YOUR LIFE!! I've managed to get my Marked for Later list on AO3 down to... 99! Although my "To reread" bookmark tag is up to 39.

Fic finished:

(A sampling of stuff I’ve bookmarked recently--you can see all my bookmarks at http://archiveofourown.org/users/dsudis/bookmarks)

the black lake by alcibiades (Bucky/Steve, T, 9k) Ohhh boy I hadn't had my heart shredded by a recovering!Bucky story in a while, so this was. OH BUCKY HONEY. PLEASE KEEP GETTING BETTER.

In So Many Words by alocalband (Nursey/Dex, M, 17k) In which Nurse writes stories that... all... seem... to be... the same... story. And they're all about him and Dex even when they're NOT ABOUT HIM AND DEX. <3

Short Circuit by Chiyume (Bucky/Steve, E, 20k) Bucky's arm gets damaged and starts giving him an... unusual... variety of sensory feedback every time it's touched. Which would be a lot easier for him to explain to Steve if he and Steve weren't both firmly convinced that the other isn't interested in him like that. (I would love about a million more stories about Bucky's arm getting cross-wired like this, but this one was definitely A GREAT START. :D)

You Make Me Look Legitimate. by Lanna Michaels (Bitty/Jack, G, 3k) LANNA WROTE FIC FOR MEEEEE ABOUT BITTY GOING TO THE 2018 OLYMPICS AND IT IS ADORABLE AND GREAT!!! <3 <3 <3

This entry was originally posted at https://dira.dreamwidth.org/749796.html.
This week in writing, 8/13

So I got tagged… at least three times in the “post the first line of your WIP” meme, so… I’m just gonna post the first lines of all my WIPs in this post, and anybody who thinks posting first lines of your WIP(s) sounds like a fun time, consider yourselves tagged. :D

WIPs currently active: 6, because, oops, I started writing kidfic in a new fandom, WHO COULD HAVE FORESEEN.

Words written this week: 7,066

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 307, and I think I… finished… a chapter??

First line: Steve caught up with him for the last time at the Grand Canyon.

Because it is 2014 forever over here.

Born in the Blood: 115, and… possibly I also finished a chapter here, too? A short “holy shit guys it’s been three months but I swear it’s not abandoned here please have what I had outlined as the first half of this chapter” kinda chapter, but still! Updating soon, hopefully!

First line (which you may already know since it’s already posted but what the heck): With every lead on Bucky running dry before he could even chase it, one of the biggest effects the day of the helicarrier battle actually had on Steve, four months later, was the fact that Natasha had leaked SHIELD’s entire email directory and now the whole world knew his email address.

All Eternals Deck #2: 595. You know that feeling when you try and try to start a fic and you finally figure out the beginning and you’re like WOOOOO HERE WE GO and then you get to the end of the beginning and you’re like… what is this entirely featureless vista before me…?

Haha, me either.

First line: Bruce always knew, unavoidably, when he was waking up after being the Other Guy.

Slavefic #6: 474.

First line: When Steve had been lying still and quiet for a little while, he found his ears attuned to Bucky’s breathing.

…Yeah we’re picking up about five minutes after the end of “The Sacrifice Play.”

Wildly Unmanageable Ace!Bitty Longfic: 2,424

First line: When it finally clicked, it felt like landing a jump combination after he’d fallen on it the first hundred times.

Jack/Bitty angsty happy ending kidfic: 3,151, probably would have been more if I hadn’t spent the first 24 hours after I decided to start writing it obsessively searching for the right title to put on the empty word document.

First line: On the third day of Bitty’s summer visit, Jack had to go to the rink.

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2uSvWd0
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/749395.html.
What I'm Reading Wednesday, 8/9/17

So I haven't done this in... six months, I think, but today has been a really good day! I did all the stuff I meant to do during my workday!! So now I'm gonna go for broke and also talk about reading stuff, WITNESS MEEE!!!

Ahem.

Books: I just in the last five minutes finally decided to stop reading Firestorm at Peshtigo, which is great but also, you know, about a whole lot of people dying horribly, and go reread Persuasion in which, afaik, no one burns to death at all. Hopefully I can make it through that without actually plotting a Check, Please! Persuasion AU but that New Fandom Energy is strong so I'm not exactly holding my breath. I also just started reading Priest by Sierra Simone, which had been kicking around my Kindle TBR collection for a year or so. I was kinda dubious about it and then read the author's note re: being brought up Catholic and still having a lot of feelings about Catholicism and spirituality and was like OH MY GOD, YOU'RE ME, so. Chapter 1 was good! :D

Books finished: ...Okay not QUITE during the past week, but the last book I finished reading was His Missing Pieces by M. A. Innes. It's M/M ageplay romance, as in one of the heroes knows at the start of the book that what he's really looking for in a relationship is someone who won't be freaked out by him e.g. wearing a diaper during sex--and since he's a college student carrying a torch for his gay-but-presumed-vanilla best friend, this all seems pretty insurmountable. (SPOILER: NOT INSURMOUNTABLE AFTER ALL.)

I was kind of ???? at a few points--Bryan's MOM knowing about his super-duper-secret kink came the closest to convincing me to stop reading--but the author seems to know what she's doing here (the mom thing is a result of overly-helpful internet-monitoring software when Bryan was a young teen, as it turns out, and his mom doing her best to be accepting and supportive). This is book one of a three-book arc in which, I'm guessing, the boys figure out how exactly to conduct a kinky relationship or indeed any relationship, but the first book was a delightful start and I'm looking forward to the second.

Fic: I have 15 WIPs bookmarked, so technically I guess I am in the middle of reading... at least 15 things? I also have 108 stories Marked for Later at the AO3, plus 29 bookmarked with the To Reread tag.

Fic finished:

(A sampling of stuff I’ve bookmarked recently--you can see all my bookmarks at http://archiveofourown.org/users/dsudis/bookmarks)

Braced Myself by PorcupineGirl (Bitty/Jack, T). Ahhhhhh delicious extra-canonical angst!! Jack's anxiety being CORRECT and Jack RUSHING TO GEORGIA to see Bitty after a horrible Christmas Eve car accident, complete with beside vigil + coming out to Bitty's parents. SO DELICIOUS AND LOVELY AND GOOD YES I WOULD LIKE TEN MORE PLEASE. :D

Tony Stark and the Mysterious Marksman by Sineala (Tony/Bucky, T). Ohhh boy. Noir!Tony meets Comics-verse hot-pants wearing (nineteen-year-old SAS-trained sharpshooter) Bucky, and secret-identity hijinks and competence porn ensue. :D :D :D Plus it was written for CapRBB, so there's lovely fanart!! :D

Anywhere on This Road by Sineala (Marcus/Esca, E) Hi, it is possible I am reading, like, all of Sineala's fic this summer, and relatedly having a The Eagle renaissance?? <3__________<3 MARCUS AND ESCA ILU oh god this is so great. Esca! All suspicious and wary and angry!! Marcus! All big and Roman and trying to be kind and determinedly shameless about what he wants! ...So like basically canon but with the porn bits written out so you don't have to imagine them?? UGH, SO GREAT. (Oh man maybe I should reread Passion & Profession????)

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/749066.html.
This week in writing, 8/6

Honestly more productive than I expected to be, what with VividCon happening, but I actually managed to do a bit of writing every day I was at the con! \o/

WIPs currently active: 5, still, because I started a new one and simultaneously dropped one off the list, at least for the time being. (The attention-sucking scourge of Check, Please fic is coming up over the hill, so we gotta fit all the MCU fic-in-progress inside the tightest possible defensive perimeter–no going back for stragglers. This week, at least.)

Words written this week: 5,598

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 1,694, and I am tentatively convinced that we’re moving toward… advancing… through the outline? toward the end of the fic? maybe?

Born in the Blood: 100, but a thing happened! Kinda! I’ll take it!

All Eternals Deck #2: 132

Slavefic #6: 541

Wildly Unmanageable Ace!Bitty Longfic: 3,131, which is, idk, maybe 2% of the eventual length of the fic? Maybe less. I am trying to accept what I cannot change up front, okay.

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2fkKaBu
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/748816.html.
Still not great, but better than last week!

WIPs currently active: 5

Words written this week: 3,259

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 104, still inching along. I probably just need to hit a scene break soon, but then I’m going to have to figure out what happens next, so…?

Born in the Blood: 821, and it is distinctly possible that every one of them is terrible, but I haven’t figured out how to make them less terrible so for now I’m just going with it.

Dragon!Bucky/tribute!Steve and Learning to Be a Good Citizen: 490, including realizing that I needed to insert an entire chapter before where I initially started writing.

All Eternals Deck #2: 598, possibly all getting deleted when I redo the beginning because i figured out that I was doing it wrong…

Slavefic #6: 1,246, DIRELY in need of a POV change.
This week in writing, 7/9

(I missed a week there but I also missed a week or more of writing, with all the things finished and going out into the world, so we’ll call it a wash and start fresh, huh?)

WIPs currently active: 6, because I started altogether too many new things while trying to coax myself back into action after more than a week just not writing at all. (It’s a lot for me! It was unsettling!)

Words written this week: 2,280

WIPs that got no words this week: 0

WIPs that did get words this week:

Codename: Aluminum Bastard (aka broken dick epic): 133. This sure is a story in which stuff is happening. I should probably… reread the last couple chapters and try to remember where the fuck I was going with this in the previous geological era when I last worked on it.

Born in the Blood: 389, and hooboy I hope you did not want a lot of detail about [significant lifetime event taking place in this chapter] because the whole thing happened inside those 389 words.

Less-Sad Sequel to “Ring the Bell Backward”: 567, and struggling not to feel like, spiritually jossed by Spider-Man: Homecoming even though this story obviously occupies a fairly drastic alternate universe from canon.

Dragon!Bucky/tribute!Steve and Learning to Be a Good Citizen: 133, haha oh look I started a sequel how did that happen??

All Eternals Deck #2: 308, oh hey look I finally figured out how to start the next Bucky/Bruce story, too! :D

Slavefic #6 (Steve Learns Some Stuff about Sex): 555, picking up literally about three minutes after the end of The Sacrifice Play. :D

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2v0gqMW
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/747813.html.
New book!! Surrendered to the Sea is out now!

Ahahaha with all my other new releases in the past week, I almost forgot to announce this one!

Surrendered to the Sea is out now in ebook & paperback through Amazon!

When an omega werewolf cast himself into the sea, he never expected someone would be there to catch him...

Omega Devon Griffith feels like his life is already over; he's failed out of school and it's just a matter of time before his parents arrange a loveless mating for the good of the pack. He wants someone to love him for himself, but it seems like he's missed his chance. When he gives in to a dark impulse and slips into the sea, he thinks that one moment of surrender will be the end...

Sea god Lir has spent years living only in the present, forgetting his own troubled past and never worrying about the future. Then his father issues an ultimatum: Lir needs to prove he can care for someone else, or he'll be banished from the sea forever. Lir doesn't even know where to start, until a werewolf falls into his sea and nearly drowns. This is Lir's chance to show he can be responsible for a mortal. He may not know anything about werewolves, but how hard can it be?

When Devon's heat arrives, Lir quickly discovers that caring for him takes more than just food, water, and shelter... and Devon finally feels like he has a future worth looking forward to. Alone together on Lir's enchanted island with a baby on the way, their love quickly blooms. But Devon can't quite forget his life on land, no matter how hard Lir tries to keep him happy in their hideaway. Can Lir and Devon's love survive beyond their magical island, or will too much reality break the sea's spell?

Surrendered to the Sea is an m/m mpreg romance featuring a lost omega werewolf, a lonely sea god, and a happy ending hot enough to melt icebergs!

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/747557.html. A lot.

I would apologize in advance but this is serious “time to own that actually you just like making your characters and readers suffer” territory. :D:

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2thqEbE
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/746408.html.
This TWO weeks in writing, 6/18

…I was traveling to visit family last Sunday and sort of forgot that Sunday was happening in the haze of spending several hours with my parents and then several hours discussing my parents with my brothers. Oops?

But now I am home again! And writing things! And talking about them on Tumblr!

WIPs currently active: 5, because I finished Little Bitty #2!!

Words written this week fortnight: 12,611, which was one really good week and one kinda meh week, so it balances out. :D

WIPs that got no words this week: 3 - broken dick epic, Born in the Blood, sequel to “Ring the Bell Backward”. Which is what happens when I frantically attempt to FINISH THINGS that are either v. close to finishing or HAVE ACTUAL DEADLINES OH GOD.

WIPs that did get words this week:

Little Bitty #2 (Jemmie): 1,628 and DONE!!! at just over 10k. And… will… definitely get betaed and posted! Someday! When I find a minute in between ALL THE OTHER THINGS.

Slavefic #5 (THE DRAMATIC REUNION): 7,344, and I am in the middle of the FINAL CHAPTER OH MAN I AM SO CLOSE TO FINISHING!!!! Also it’s just over 46k, so apparently it’s not, uh, going to be appreciably shorter than Sink Right to the Floor, which for a while I had thought it would be. Ahahaha why would anything ever be short, why would I even dream of that. /o\

Dragon!Bucky/Tribute!Steve Cap Reverse Big Bang Story: 3,639, and getting! really! close! to being! done! which is good because I post in less than two weeks!! :DDD:

from Tumblr http://ift.tt/2sHiAUy
via IFTTT

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/746029.html. That would be way too much responsibility for Lir. He’s basically the god of the North Atlantic Drift.

**The fact that it is largely made of plastic does not mean that it is not also magical, okay.

Featuring heat sex, omega pregnancy, The Real Enemy Is Depression, and only the most refined and discreet references to tentacle sex, Surrendered to the Sea is allllmost finished in the draft stage, and I hope to have it out sometime in June!

If you’d like to be one of the first to read it (for free!), you can sign up for my Advance Readers mailing list by filling out the signup form HERE.

This entry was originally posted at http://dira.dreamwidth.org/745861.html.
