8PM-ish Dinner - either state street, or grill out.

Saturday - Great Lakes Dragway Leave my house around 2-3 PM.

Hey All,

It's that time of year...spring is in the air! Time to
haul out the car/truck/plane, fix whatever broke in
storage, and vvvaaaroom. With that said.....

I'm going to be putting together a 'car weekend' type
thing, in Madison, Wisconsin, on the weekend of April
24/25, including the Spring Annual Jefferson Car
show, perhaps going to Union Grove 1/4 mile
racetrack, and/or some circle track, and various other
things, dinner, etc. I'm in the planning stage right
now. ANYONE who has a interest in cars (no, you don't
have to HAVE a muscle/restored car :) is invited. I'd
like to get an idea who is interested, and also get
email addy's so I can send an eamil with the concrete
plan once it has been made. It'll be pay as you go for
event, so feel free to come for any events that sound

Keep in mind that ALL car enthusiasts are welcome...I
know there will be guys who are into VW's, Muclecars,
and Porches.

I was sadly reminded of why I had rescue dogs in the past, when I
received this note from Doberman Rescue, and why I want to help every
single one of these orphan dobies when I read things such as this. See!
I'm not the scrooge you think I am :)

Also, our new family member, Blackjack, continues to amaze, delight and
keep things *very* interesting. (we'll have to get some pix) We are
looking forward to obedience school where he can make some doggie
friends and learn a bit more manners around visitors. Blackjack came
from Doberman rescue, and we just can't see how someone would call him
'a handful' - but their loss is our gain - everyone that has met him is
quite fond of the little guy. Anyways, on with the note :

Yes. 'tis the season to be dumping and this begins a list that will be
updated regularly. This represents a group of dogs looking for a
temporary home for the holidays. A few weeks would be great-even a week
would help. Most of these dogs need to go somewhere by this Friday
12/17. Even if there is no room at your inn perhaps you know someone who
would like a little company for the holidays? Our homeless orphans
would be so happy and the temporary foster home would enjoy their
holidays a lot more! We will provide regular updates to this list.

Zoei - The elderly owner has broken her hip and must surrender the dog
back to IDR+. She is 3 years old, C/D. She is good with kids. We do
not know about cats. We hear she is okay with other dogs as long as a
proper introduction is managed.
Sarge - He was dropped off a Orphan Canines. This is the dog that lived
with Rula. He is 4 years old. B/T, C/D. We hear he is okay with other
dogs and are not sure about cats. He would probably be happier in a
home where the kids are older, versus little ones crawling around.
Drew - We have no data other than he is 2 years old, B/T. He is at the
Wisconsin Humane Society.
Ramses - This recently adopted dog growled at his new Dad and new Dad
has freaked. This happened when new Dad was attempting to put Ramses
into the kitchen area prior to leaving the house. New Dad is now very
afraid although Ramses has been okay since. Ramses is okay with other
dogs and cats. He is on the large side at 110 pounds and is about 4
years old. We need to find an experienced home for this guy.
Sweet Pea - Sue F. ~ Are you still planning to take her? Please advise
ASAP. I was able to observe her at Happy Paws on Saturday night and she
is very ready to get out of there.
Max - This is a 15.5 year old blind Rat Terrier. He would love a quiet
home to spend the holidays at. His requirements are minimal. He needs
a couple of square meals a day, some fresh water, an occasional trip
outside to potty and a comfortable dog bed to take his long naps in. If
you know anyone wanting to hospice him forever let us know. He is a
sweetie.
Chai-Chi - (I think that is her name)! Anyway this one is a 5 year old
Chi. She would not be good with kids. On the shyer side. Even if you
put her in a big dog crate with a bed in front and papers in the back it
is better than where she was off to.
Let's keep Inky and Dinky together for the holidays. They really are
quite devoted to each other and these 2 Chi boys won't take up much room
even combined!
Sparky is at Tracy's kennel & has been there for a couple of months.
He's a 4 year old Lab mix that loves to play and would probably do best
with another canine that has high energy.
Dazzle is a 10 week old Collie mix puppy looking for some holiday hugs.
Let's not forget Tinsel ... an 8 week old puppy that we are still breed
identifying. No matter what, it's 6 pounds and very cute ... hey 6
pounds is probably half the size of the turkey you're preparing for your
holiday dinner!
Sydney is a smooth coated Collie-mix that would love to share your
holidays. He is 9 months old. Currently at Kat's kennel and good with
other dogs.
Remember that guy that threatened to shoot the Dobes he dumped on his
Mom? Well, their names are Double and Trouble and we have no choice but
to take thme in so they arrive Wednesday. We want to separate them.
We've heard they are good with kids and other dogs. Not sure about
cats. We definitely know that they aren't good around morons with guns.
They are about 4 years old and probably terribly confused.
Dennis is currently being fostered, however, due to a lot of pending
distractions at the foster home, we need to move him. Dennis is a year
and a half old, good with cats, dogs and kids. He's still being
housebroken.
Snowball needs somewhere to go for a week while her foster mom is out of
town. She is not good with dogs, but good with cats. She was going to
come here but Boo is here mending and cannot be moved. He is in
Snowball's spot.

We have a multitude of computer stuff that we'll be giving away, if that is perhaps enticement to come :) Of course, dinner / drinks will be on us :-)

*warning* this post might completely offend some people - hence the cut.
It's about my recent weight reduction focus.

While it's no surprise to those who know me, that I'm rather pudgy, what
may be of interest (or not) is , I've become most unhappy about it. I've
jumped on the 'diet' bandwagon before, to little effect - although when
I REALLY tried Atkins, I did loose. But, something about eating bacon 10
times a day that leads me to believe that isn't all that healthy either.
I've done Jenny Craig, and know what ? its all about you buying their
pre-packaged food. The only thing I really learned from that stint, was
perhaps portion control.

Those that know me, know I'm pretty cynical, and a skeptic on lots of
less traditional ways to cope with medical things. This weekend, I tried
something quite out of my norm. I went to a Hypnosis session for weight
control. I made SURE I came with an open mind. I won't tell you a story
on how I'm now 50 lbs lighter over night...however, during the actual
hypnosis part, we were to think of all the foods that we have 'cravings'
for, and think of the most disgusting thing, and tie those 2 things
together. It got to a point where, I physically felt queasy...I was ,
really quite amazed. I'm very hopeful this is going to be the kick in
the pants I needed.

Probably, more interesting, is the explanation on WHY we get sugar
cravings, and how our body works.
This is going to be an interesting journey, and I'll sure try and keep
progress posts coming.

jrjarrett and I are VERY close to being finished with this
house buying crap. There is a certain local listing realtor that needs
to be smacked for not doing his job. Our Buyers Agent is SO kick
ass...we are lucky to have her.

Halloween on state street ? will there be riots ? hrmmm. Will they be
stopped by the giant spot lights that our city spent 20k on ? HA. Our
police dept. needs to get a clue, and use rubber bullets if kids start
destroying buildings again.

Ouch.

I over-did it on the rented jetski in Wisconsin Dells this past weekend....there was this HUGE wave that looked really fun, and the next thing I know, is I was in the lake spitting out water. I biffed it good...right in the ass. I had fun pulling myself out of water to get back on the thing....hehe. barely managed to do that...man, I need to get back to the gym! I totally deserved to get biffed, doing that stoooopid little stunt, and I laughing the whole time, until I realized my glasses were gone! DOH. But I was laughing soon after that anyways, and for sure, I know that I need to get one of those old man tether things for my NEXT pair of glasses, and , um, a floating one at that!

I'm a bit sore today. frenzycub rightfully named them ASSmasters. But wow, it was worth it!
