Just for the record in case someone gets the wrong idea based on the title, no, this isn't the end, just a temporary parting. And look, ma, no years between chapters!

Chapter Fifty-Three: Confirmation

Erm... Time flies? Also, I've lost my feel for inserting Chinese *sigh* Ah well, figured y'all'd be glad to see it anyway, even before I go back to my pages of Chinese-in-Serenity and give myself a refresher.

X-Men: First Class
May. 16th, 2011 | 06:38 pm
Just a teensy bit of crack written for a friend of mine, mostly because the upcoming movie looks awesome, but the title gives me the giggles.
Charles caught sight of a business man moving to get out of his seat and moved towards him. "I'm sorry," he said politely. "The captain has lit the fasten seatbelts placard and requested that everyone stay seated until we're past the turbulence. As soon as it's safe, he'll turn it off again."
The man scowled and stood up anyway, glaring down at him. "I paid six grand for this flight, and if I wanna use the goddamn bathroom, I'm gonna--"
Abruptly, the two halves of his seatbelt raised into the air, danced for a moment like cobras about to strike, and then wrapped around his waist and pulled him back into his seat, tightening far more than was likely comfortable.
"Wh--What--"
Charles turned to see what he knew he would, Erik with a hint of a sneer and one hand extended. Exasperated, he moved to him. "Erik--you know you shouldn't--"
"Protect him from himself?" Erik demanded. "You're a fool for not simply forcing him to sit."
"Free will is important," Charles pointed out. "Certainly, I could change his mind, but it would be wrong."
"Well, I didn't do anything to his free will," Erik stated. "Just his freedom."
Charles sighed and shook his head, then glanced back at the man who was now sitting rigidly still, a shocked, frightened expression on his face, carefully not looking at them. "Well. He's not going to be flying with us anymore."

Chapter Fifty-Two: Cleaning
May. 13th, 2011 | 12:49 am
I had no intention of posting again this soon, actually. Not that I was planning to let it go another year or four, but ... wasn't quite expecting to post again yet. Which is to say: No promises that there's gonna be another anywhere near as soon--I have no expectation of making hugely fast progress any time soon, though if it happens it'd be cool :p Y'anyway.
Also--totally unedited. Didn't even do a read through. Sorry. usually I do, but I'm tired. Figured yall'd forgive me and I'd fix the mistakes at some point.
My first Jayne PoV, if I'm not mistaken. I think I have his voice too thick and need to tone it down a bit. Opinions?
And, really, this ought to be chapter ... 48 maybe? Before Xander wakes up, at any rate. But moving them around seemed ... complicated.

Chapter Fifty-One: Sedation and Other Options
May. 10th, 2011 | 11:14 pm
This started out as a bit of a filler chapter, but it didn't, imo, wind up one, which doesn't really surprise me because I'm not entirely sure I believe in filler chapter. It started when I realized an obvious question they'd forgotten to ask in the last chapter, and went from there. Anyway, here's hoping I haven't lost the voice since last writing! I quite enjoyed writing it and hope y'all enjoy the reading.
Oh, too, in my entry a couple days ago I invited a handful of prompts two of which I have thus far responded two and might interest you. One was Xander-River (Xander/River if you choose to read it that way--their age gap is a bit too much for me to be comfortable with unless they were both a decade or two older), and the other a Serenity (as in the ship) PoV piece. Neither very long. The third prompt is Xander/Vala (Stargate) which I haven't done yet, and two remain to be claimed as of the time of this writing.
But for now--on to what you come here for!

So I thought people would be interested to hear that I've been working on Carving again. About halfway through a chapter, hopefully will post in the next few days. But in the meantime:
