CHARACTER SURVEYS

GINO LOREN^(headcanon) WEINBERG

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Gino is six foot seven and weighs roughly two hundred twenty pounds, which is basically all bone and muscle. He's a tall giant, a massive spaghetti noodle. He's canonly described as being lithe like a predatory cat with well-sculpted features, and appears to be wiry-muscled at best, maybe just a little on the lanky side. Everything about him is big and European. Also long. Gino is a long cat.

2. How old is he?

During the events of R1, up until maybe around the time of Suzaku's knighting under Euphie, Gino is sixteen (and also not even a Knight of the Round yet - MINDFUCK). By R2, he is seventeen, and at the end of the series he is eighteen.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

Excluding the times when Gino is leaning all up in someone's grill or hanging off of them, Gino's posture is impeccable, both standing and sitting. He got the scarf treatment as a kid, you betcha.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

Healthy as a horse! Although there may or may not be some brain damage from all those facial collisions with door frames, low-hanging branches, etc. ... nah just kidding he's fine.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

A little ungainly, but he's not one of your cliche trips-over-everything accident-prone clumsy guys. That height means a lot of hitting his head on stuff if he forgets to duck, and he's actually not a great sprinter even though he has fantastic stamina (heh) and great speed; he trips easily. Otherwise, he's very fluid and comfortable in his own body, he enjoys his build and uses it to his advantage.

He's a masterful dancer and artist and even when piloting his Knightmare he's pretty slick, and his fencing's probably a marvel to watch, too, as is his piano-playing. Always confident in his actions, to the point of arrogance, which can lead to carelessness. Also I figure the same probably holds up in bed. Confident to the point of carelessness, with a tendency to get carried away.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

Pretty charming, I'd say, and canon seems to agree (the novel goes on "serenading his prettiness" for some time, evidently). He's your standard tall, tan and handsome, blond hair like "spun gold" and a lovely set of baby blues. His height can be intimidating to some, though.

Gino knows (or at least supposes) that he's attractive but doesn't seem to make a point of letting anyone know he realizes it. He's happy with himself and seems to be comfortable no matter what he's wearing or who's looking at him, he could probably be the type to do some modeling work under the table, if only so people don't think he's conceited. Either way, he likes himself, he doesn't need anyone's opinion to make that so.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Light, pretty fair-skinned, maybe a little tanned but not naturally so. He might have one or two scars, being a military man and all, but they're not major ones in any readily visible places.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

"Hair like spun gold," nuff said.

No but seriously, he's blond and wears it in three braids at the back of his neck, combed to the right on top and a little flippy on the ends. It looks unruly but he actually spends a lot of time on it when he can, so it's very soft and smells good. The braids are kind of a security of blanket of his, so he doesn't like to take them down very much; just when he bathes. Sometimes, but very rarely, he'll opt for a ponytail.

9. What color are his eyes?

Baby blue. They're always that way, too, they don't change colors depending on his feelings or whatever. Despite that, his eyes are very expressive and earnest so he sometimes has difficulty maintaining neutrality when he's excited or happiness when he's sad because his eyes (and nothing else, not eyebrows or anything around his eyes) give him away.

It takes a person who can read others well or who know Gino intimately to be able to tell, though.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Besides being tall, the braids, and being decidedly good-looking? No, he's a boring human with no fancy thingamajigs. ~~Jury's still out on what form his Geass would take if he ever got one.~~

11. What are his chief tension centers?

His back and shoulders, mostly. Gino has to lean forward quite a lot just to walk though a door, never mind to be eye-level with another average-sized person, so his spine easily gets sick of being cracked in half all the time.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Gino's almost always seen in uniform, Rounds, fight suit or Ashford Academy uniform, pick your flavor. His casualwear is ... well. Sometimes hideous, sometimes slightly more tolerable.

There's no rhyme and reason here, whatever. All of Code Geass' casual outfits are fugly. People dress like Nunnally picked their clothes out for them or something.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

Because of his unusual height, all of Gino's clothes are especially tailored to fit him and so they always fit just right. They're quite expensive, don'tcha know. And Gino isn't the type of expression to seem out of sorts in any kind of outfit, he was bred wearing scratchy, uncomfortable clothing. It's second nature to just put something on and wear it with dignity.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

I already linked to his hideous casual outfits in question twelve, but here's his Rounds uniform and flight suit from the back (heh).

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

When he bothers to wear anything at all, briefs, and they're color-coordinated with his outfits. He's thorough, okay, shut up.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

4. What kind of education has the character had?

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
