Lelouch had taken off for Himorogi the second he saw Kallen's video on the network.

Is he concerned? Yes, highly. After the first few days, he had no longer felt it was necessary to keep his identity a secret from the others because he hadn't even thought the gods would bring someone else from his world so long after they'd brought him. Stupid, stupid. A fatal miscalculation. If someone revealed to her that he's Zero -

he's not sure how bad that would be, but the answer is probably very. Very bad.

Geass Rules / Permissions / Plots ~ back before the lobotomy

This is the post to check if you want something cleared up about Lelouch's Geass, or want to come plot with it!

First off, the rules about the Geass. They were kind of glossed over in his app, so here they are:

1. Lelouch must be making eye contact for it to work. It works if he is looking at you through a mirror or transparent material as well, though that fails at greater distances. Its maximum range is 270 meters.

2. The Geass has the power to make anyone obey one absolute command. Once this power is used on your character, your character cannot fight it, except when given an order that goes against the very fiber of your character's being. This is very, very rare, only half-effectual, and not likely to happen at all. Even if a character is able to fight initally, they will eventually submit. Your character will not remember anything from a few seconds before the command is issued to a few seconds after it is carried out. They will not remember what it was. They will not remember what they did. They will not remember Lelouch, unless they had seen him a while before the Geass was used.

3. A command must be issued verbally. Lelouch does not have to utter a direct command; he can phrase it as a suggestion or request, so long as eye contact is maintained, the Geass is activated, and his intention makes the command clear. Your character's personality, memory, and free will will be utterly crushed. They will not be able to "interpret" a command's wording in a manner different from its intention.

4. Your character cannot be made to do something that is physically or mentally impossible for them. For example, if your character is made to answer questions truthfully, and Lelouch asks a question that your character doesn't know the answer to, they will not be able to answer. If they know who can answer, they will be able to give him that name. You get the idea. As for physically impossible, your character may try to complete the task to the best of his/her ability. (Don't worry about that one; Lelouch is pretty good about these things. <.<;;)

5. The Geass will only work ONCE PER CHARACTER. During the initial Geass contact, Lelouch can issue as many subsequent commands as he needs to, but once eye contact is broken, it's done. He cannot countermand an order, as that would involve using the Geass a second time. Again, if Lelouch has already used his Geass once on your character, it will never work on your character again.

6. Lelouch's Geass will grow stronger with every use. This really has no bearings on your characters, honestly, it's just here because it may be important, especially since if Lelouch overuses his Geass, eventually he will lose the ability to turn it off. EDIT: This is now the case. Lucky for everyone involved, Lelouch has a special contact lens that suppresses it, so there shouldn't be any "lol woops massacre" incidents again. Shouldn't. :|

Appearance: Lelouch is incredibly skinny. Being born and raised for administrative/royal duties and not physical labor, he has almost literally no muscle mass to speak of. He has a light, Caucasian complexion, long arms, legs, and fingers, and generally looks to be about five foot eight. His facial features are actually rather delicate—small nose, small chin, large eyes with long lashes—which makes him look a bit effeminate. Lelouch has dark brown hair, like his mother, cut in a style intended to look a tiny bit too long and artfully mussed. His best features are easily his eyes, which are amethyst in hue, like his father’s.

Lelouch, being a member of the rich ruling/noble class even in hiding, tends to wear nice clothing that is tailored to his body, often emphasizing his skinniness. He is most often seen wearing his school uniform in public. When acting as Zero, Lelouch wears a (insert suit style here) and a long, black ~~dramatic~~ cape with gold piping and red trim, as well as a modified fencing helmet and mask designed to conceal his face without impeding his peripheral vision.

Background: Lelouch was born Lelouch vi Britannia, the eleventh son (seventeenth child) of Emperor Charles zi Britannia and the first child of the late Imperial Consort Marianne. When Lelouch was ten years old, there was a brutal attack at the palace, leaving his mother dead and his younger sister, Nunnally, blind and unable to walk. In a rage, Lelouch requested an audience with his father and demanded to know why they weren’t protected. Charles responded by telling Lelouch that it was none of his concern, and that he and Nunnally would be sent to Japan as political hostages in the ongoing conflict over the precious ore Sakuradite.

While Lelouch and Nunnally were there under the patronage of the Japanese Prime Minister’s family, the Empire of Britannia made its move against Japan, crushing the country’s resistance and annexing it, renaming the land Area 11. The war gave Lelouch and Nunnally the opportunity to fake their deaths and escape go into hiding from Britannia, taking shelter under the protection of the wealthy and influential Ashford family. Lelouch assumed the name Lelouch Lamperouge, and began attending Ashford Academy, a private school for the wealthy.

When Lelouch was seventeen, he became mixed up in a car chase between the resistance (former Japanese citizens committing guerilla acts against the Britannian government) and the military. They were stealing what they believed to be a canister of poison gas, but what was actually a holding tank for a seemingly young girl with ~~white~~ green hair and a mark across her forehead that looked like a long, stylized red V. Lelouch’s old friend Suzaku Kururugi turned out to be the officer who initially tried to apprehend Lelouch and the girl, but he was shot when he refused to gun them down in cold blood. Lelouch and the girl ran for it. When the military caught up, the girl jumped out and took a bullet to the head to save him. She grabbed his hand as she lay dying (or so he thought) she gave him the power of Geass—a mysterious power that manifested in Lelouch as the “power of the king.” Lelouch discovered, as he ordered the army men standing before him to “die,” that this gift gave him the ability to control any one person, through direct eye contact and a verbal order, once.

Lelouch decided there to use this power to gain his revenge against Britannia, not only for his mother’s death and his sister’s loss of her sight and mobility, but for all those oppressed by Britannian rule. Having been given a tiny taste of what that oppression might have felt like by his father, and by the military right there, Lelouch vowed that he was going to rip Britannia down and create a world where Nunnally could be safe and happy. A world without violence, oppression or bloodshed.

To do this, Lelouch created an identity. The masked terrorist known as Zero became his alter ego, a man who was willing to kill and plot and subvert and lead an army against their enemies so that Japan could know freedom. He went to the existing resistance and took it over by sheer force of charisma and his ability to create results, reforging them into an organization he called the Black Knights.

Lelouch and the Black Knights, along with C.C., the immortal woman who had given him his Geass, performed many acts of terrorism against Britannia; some saving many lives, others destroying even more. After gaining a great deal of popular support among the people of Japan, as well as creating division within Britannia’s own ranks, his plans were shaken by something even he couldn’t foresee: a peace-making move by his half-sister and governor of Area 11, Euphemia li Britannia. Euphemia shared Lelouch’s desire for peace, but not his vision of violent revolution. She attempted to create a safe zone on a plot of land beneath Mt. Fuji, termed the “Special Administrative Zone of Japan,” wherein there would be no distinction between native Britannians, honorary Britannians, and “Numbers.” All would be equal citizens there.

Lelouch became torn—should he go along with this plan, to support his sister and their shared desire for peace? Or would that be seen as cooperating with Britannia? Should he oppose this obvious ploy to keep the Japanese’s mouths shut? Or was peace really attainable through peaceful means? With all these questions in mind, the Black Knights came to the summit. “Zero” and Euphemia retired to a secret area to negotiate the terms of the deal.

Lelouch’s plan was to have her shoot him, effectively making him a martyr and destroying the public’s faith in Britannian authority. However, when Euphemia told him she intended to give up her title as part of the effort, she convinced him her intentions were pure, and that he might be able to give Nunnally that safe world without shedding any more blood.

Thus, Lelouch took off his helmet (because Euphemia already knew his identity via a series of events which I have glossed over in the interest of brevity) and talked with her, attempted to share his experiences with the only other family besides Nunnally who loved and accepted him. While explaining the mechanics of his Geass to Nunnally, he mentioned that even she would be compelled to follow any order he gave her should he use it, no matter what the order was; “for example,” he said, “if I ordered you to kill all the Japanese, you’d have to do it.”

To Lelouch’s surprise, Euphie’s face fell in horror. “But I don’t want to do that!” she cried, and fell to her knees, trembling and begging him, tears streaming down her face, not to make her do it, clearly undergoing some sort of painful internal struggle. Lelouch tried to ask her what was wrong, but it was too late.

Lelouch had accidentally Geassed his sister into murdering every single person of Japanese descent in the world.

As she ran out to the summit, compelled by the Geass, Lelouch pursued, panicked and already running through the actions he could take. Should he simply restrain her? Undo the Geass somehow? (Impossible.) Kill her? That was the only option. As Lelouch ran out into the light, he saw Euphie announce to all the assembled Japanese citizens that they were all going to be killed, and ordered the troops to fire, even going so far as to grab a machine gun and gun them down herself.

Lelouch has been taken to Kannagara from this point in time. EDIT: This no longer applies; Lelouch has been canon-updated to the end of R2 Turn 8.

Personality: In a word: “driven.”

In many words: Lelouch is someone who refuses to allow his emotions to get in the way of what he needs to accomplish. Whether he succeeds in doing so is a different question entirely. His ambition is what defines him and sets him apart—he dares oppose Britannia, even though he stands to lose more from Britannia’s fall than anyone else in the resistance. For Nunnally’s sake, and to satisfy his own betrayal at his father’s hands, he’s vowed to do whatever it takes to bring Britannia down, even if it means sacrificing lives—even his own life. Often, he’s said, “The only ones who kill should be the ones who are prepared to die themselves,” and he’s meant it.

Lelouch has an incredible need to be seen and acknowledged—“attention-seeking” would not be too far off the mark. When in hiding, Lelouch had to learn to suppress that instinct, that hunt for acknowledgement, and to assume an air of artful impassivity so as not to get too close to anyone, lest they discover his true identity. When he created Zero as a symbolic figure, though, this came out in full force. Zero’s actions had to be attention-seeking, flamboyant and loud and angry so that people would see him and his crusade, and learn to question their own beliefs.

Lelouch has an innate charisma, the ability to tap into what you want to hear and say what he wants you to believe in the way you want to believe it. Despite his status as a seventeen-year-old high school student, Lelouch has a way of holding himself, of speaking and connecting with those to whom he is speaking, that makes one want to believe in him. This insane projected self-confidence, this assured air can only come from someone who wholeheartedly believes that he is doing the Right Thing. It was through this charisma and his analytical skills that he managed to take control of the floundering resistance and shape it into a fighting force. Whether it was part of his personality from birth, or drilled into him as a young prince and possible future leader of nations, is unclear, and perhaps moot.

Deep down, though, Lelouch sometimes yearns for real normalcy. Little acts of kindness from his school friends touch him, sometimes. His first real moral crisis came when he discovered the landslide he’d engineered during a terrorist attack killed his friend Shirley Fennette’s father, forcing him to confront the fact that he’d taken innocent lives in order to continue his fight. He’s never had a real childhood, and that’s stunted his ability to form lasting relationships—and he knows it.

Abilities/Strengths: Leaving aside his Geass for the moment, Lelouch’s greatest asset is his mind. His ability to look objectively and strategically at any situation and calculate how to exploit advantages while reducing the impact of disadvantages, all within a short period of time, is what has enabled him to hand the resistance a series of decisive victories over Britannia. Combined with his natural charisma, this makes Lelouch a frighteningly good leader, at least in terms of a small, dedicated group of loyal people with a reasonably reliable supply of resources.

However, just being incredibly smart and charismatic wouldn’t be enough to challenge Britannia, which is why the power of mind control also totally helps. Lelouch’s Geass allows him to compel one person, one time, to follow any direct order given to them so long as it is within their capacity to perform. It works through eye contact (mirrors do count), but the order does not have to be phrased as a direct order—as long as it’s given verbally, it can be phrased as a suggestion or request, so long as the Geass is activated and eye contact is maintained.

The Geass is a mysterious power, and not much about it is known—Lelouch had to discover many of its rules and limitations for himself through trial and error. One of those rules was that his Geass (as C.C. told him and even demonstrated through her former partner Mao) would grow stronger with each use, until he could no longer deactivate it in his left eye. That is now the case, as his accidental use of it on Euphie marked that stage of evolution.

**The Geass will not be used in-game without permission and cooperation from the other muns involved. I will create a rules and permissions post in Lelouch’s journal for any questions/log ideas to be addressed.

Weaknesses: Physically, Lelouch is about as strong as a blade of wet grass. He has no cardiovascular endurance to speak of (flights of stairs tire him out, as does jogging for farther than a block or so). He also has hardly any survival-in-the-wild skills; though he does have the “book smarts” to at least know what should be done to survive, he doesn’t have the strength and physical skills to carry them out.

Personality-wise, Lelouch isn’t quite as perfectly objective as he’d like to believe he is. His emotions, particularly concerning Nunnally, can cloud his judgement, though maybe not in ways immediately obvious. Anger is his downfall—not hot, passionate, spur-of-the-moment anger, but cold, simmering, vengeful rage. He’s nursed a violent grudge against his royal family for at least seven years, if not longer.
For all that he is a brilliant leader and ruthless tactician, Lelouch is still an angry seventeen-year-old. His deepest fears stem from his relationship with Charles—deep down, Lelouch is afraid of becoming the same kind of man as his father. He internalizes a great deal of his failures and shortcomings, being used to having no one but himself to confide in. There is a strange relationship between extreme self-love and extreme self-hate at his core.

Lelouch’s self-confidence easily transitions into over-confidence. He’s dug himself into many a hole due to this, and while he’s climbed out of most of them, the Japan Summit was the first really, truly irreparable mistake he’s made so far.

Where Nunnally is concerned, Lelouch would do anything for her. This has on the one hand kept him from sliding too far into darkness, so to speak, but on the other hand, his love for Nunnally could be easily exploited. For now. If Lelouch ever overcomes this weakness, it may be a sign that he’s lost his humanity entirely.
