Somebody Should Be Kissing Those Lips -- Part 2

PART 1:  http://dpracket.livejournal.com/50255.html

Less than fifteen mintues later, Luke was bent over Reid's desk, Reid's forehead pressed against the back of his shirt. "Jesus, Snyder..." Reid panted, his hand gently slapping Luke's right hip. "That was............fuck...........ngh."

"Get off me," Luke said bluntly, straightening up, getting his breath under control. Reid stepped back, his softened dick sliding out of Luke.

"Hey," Reid said, reaching for Luke's arm, but Luke shrugged him off and pulled up his pants, tucking his shirt inside and securing his belt.

Reid, his breath still a little out of control, pulled up his pants from his thighs and walked over to the trash can, where he deposited the condom. He turned around and zipped up his pants, as he watched Luke clean the desk with some tissues. "I'm off in about an hour. We could get some takeout, and..."

"No," Luke said flatly as he shook his head and threw the paper towel away. "Sorry about your desk."

"Hey, are you okay?" Reid asked, reaching for Luke, as Luke stepped back and pushed Reid's hand away. "Did I hurt you?" Luke shook his head. "It was pretty quick," Reid admitted, smiling a bit. "We were both revved up. Next time, we can take our time, and..."

Luke patted his pockets, making sure he had his keys and wallet. "There's not going to be a next time," he said, without looking at Reid. "I don't know what you think this was, but...........no. And we've now pretty much guaranteed that I won't show my face at any of Noah's appointments. Congratulations. That should make both of you happy. Problem solved, Dr. Oliver."

Reid stepped closer to Luke. "C'mon, don't be like..."

"I'll see you around," Luke said coldly and abruptly turned away from Reid.

Reid sighed, ran a hand through his hair, and watched Luke walk out the door.

For the next week and a half, Reid didn't see Luke around the hospital, or any of the places he normally ran into him. He thought about calling him at the emergency number that was listed in Noah's file but decided against it. He went over the encounter in his office a hundred times in his head, trying to figure out what had gone wrong. Yes, it had been a little rough, with nothing to ease the burn but an inadequate amount of spit, and it definitely was a lot quicker than Reid would have liked, but they'd both gotten off, and Luke had seemed into it, making some insanely hot sounds and pushing back to meet Reid's thrusts.

It had started off with Luke kissing him, desperate and insistent, and it had quickly progressed to a frenzied need to feel each other's skin. Minutes later, when Reid had entered Luke from behind, neither of them even taking the time to remove shoes, Reid had caught Luke's eyes in their reflection in the large window behind his desk. There had been something achingly initimate about it, and Reid had struggled to hold onto Luke's gaze until sensation and momentum had caused him to drop his head, his hand over Luke's on the desk, as he drove into him harder.

Maybe it had been a mistake. Luke was clearly still trying to get over Noah. Reid probably should have stopped it, but Luke was kissing him, and he smelled good and tasted even better. Luke Snyder's body was warm and hard and strong, and any grip that Reid had on practicality and reason had flown out the window.

"Reid?" Luke's voice in his head.

"Dr. Oliver?" Louder. Not Luke's voice after all.

Reid looked up. "Oh....Hey, Bob."

"Where were you?" Bob asked.

"Here...been here at the hospital all day," Reid answered.

"No," Bob chuckled. "A minute ago...you were a million miles away. You were daydreaming."

Reid pshawed. "Not likely...I was just thinking about a case," he lied.

"Speaking of cases, I just saw Noah Mayer entering radiology; his surgery is close now."

"Yeah. Thursday morning. He should be having all his pre-OP labs and admission paperwork today too," Reid answered, looking at his watch. "Was Luke Snyder with him?" he asked, trying to sound superficial in his inquiry.

"Yes, he was. I hear they broke up, but it is good to see them maintaining a friendship...very mature for such young men."

Reid rolled his eyes. "Yeah. Um...anyway, I've got this...uh...thing I've got to get to," he said, standing up from the breakroom table and dumping out his coffee that had gone cold. "Will you excuse me, chief?"

"Of course. Sure thing, Reid."

Reid paused briefly in front of the elevators but then opted for the stairs, taking them two at a time down to the ground floor. He quickly headed down the radiology hall and saw Luke exiting radiology at the far end of the cooridor. "Luke! Hey, wait up..."

Luke turned around only partially and kept walking toward the side exit. "I'm in a rush, Dr. Oliver."

"C'mon, Luke...wait," Reid said, jogging to catch up to Luke and reaching out for his arm.

Luke stopped suddenly and turned around, and Reid put on the brakes so as not to bump into him. Luke shrugged Reid's hand off his arm. "Really, I'm in a rush. I need to get back to work." He was looking anywhere but at Reid.

Reid looked at Luke's jeans, faded t-shirt, and his untied, beat-up hightops and knew he was lying. "Luke..." Luke looked at him briefly before his eyes darted off again. "I haven't seen you around," Reid said softly. "Are you okay?"
Luke nodded absently. "Yup....yeah, I'm great." Another lie. "Can I go now?"

"Yeah, of course...I just wanted to..." he trailed off. "...maybe...I don't know, maybe we can talk for a few mintues when you come to pick up Noah?"

"His current...whatever he is... is taking him home later after his pre-OP tests," Luke answered, glancing at the door and then at his feet. "Apparently, my support is only needed when Richard's at work."

"Okay," Reid said, not knowing what to say to that. "Alright, I won't keep you, then..."

Luke nodded and turned to the door, and Reid watched him exit without saying anything else.

Reid sighed and turned and started walking back to the main hospital corridor before coming to halt. "Fuck this," he said, and turned back around.

When he came out into the bright afternoon sunlight, he shielded his eyes and saw Luke entering the parking garage. He picked up his pace, and he caught up to him a few rows into the garage, as Luke was reaching his car. "Luke..."

Luke spun around. "Will you quit calling me that!?" He sighed and leaned back against his car.

"It's your name."

"Yeah? Well, that's not what you call me...Listen, Dr. Oliver, I can't do this, alright? What do you want?"

"You can't do what?" Reid asked, seeing the tears welling up in Luke's eyes, even though he wasn't looking at him.

Luke looked like he might answer but then just shook his head and looked down.

Reid tentatively stepped closer to Luke and nodded. "Okay. Yeah, okay. I'm not trying to...," he started, but then he wasn't sure what he wanted to say. He took a deep breath. He wasn't even sure what he was feeling. "I just...." He sighed. "I just want you to be okay."

"I still love him."

Reid nodded. "Pretty fucked up, huh?" Luke asked.

Reid shook his head. "You can't help how you feel."

"Yeah, but I can control how I act, and that was really stupid what we did last week. We don't even like each other."

Reid stepped away from Luke a bit and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Right, yeah. Okay."

"So, we can just pretend it didn't happen, right?" Luke asked but didn't look entirely convinced of it himself.

"Sure. Whatever you want," Reid said, putting his hands in his lab coat pockets and looking off to the side.

They stood in silence for a few minutes. Suddenly, Reid stepped forward and wrapped an arm around Luke's shoulders and another around his waist, pulling him close. "You deserve better than him," he said, almost a whisper, against Luke's ear.

Luke gently pushed Reid away from him and wiped at his own face. "Who are you?" he asked.

Reid smiled slightly, trying to catch Luke's eyes. "I'm Reid. It's nice to meet you."

"I have to go," Luke said, his eyes on the ground.

Reid squeezed Luke's bicep and then dropped his arms. "Ok. Call me if you....just let me know if you need anything. Okay?"

Luke nodded, got in his car, and drove away.
