I have a hard time falling asleep to music, actually--I always end up concentrating on listening, which keeps me awake--so even songs like this don't really do the trick. But it's a really nice, relaxing piece to listen to, so it's about as close as I get.

so hey dudes hey dudes if someone could do me a favor and break a tie real quick I'd be much obliged

That aside! I went and saw that there new Tron movie with deepfryerfire, stanking, and secretwalls last night. GOOD TIMES. I enjoyed it a lot; it was incredible visually, of course, but I was just as impressed with the soundtrack, which was executed with authority by the immortal Daft Punk and absolutely perfect for the movie--dark, heavy, exquisitely well put-together. Also, their little cameo in the club scene was great.

My favorite characters were Quorra and ~~Nega-Jeff Bridges~~ CLU, though Kevin Flynn was a close third, all with his shifts between "wise father figure" and "manchild." CLU made a fun antagonist throughout, but I actually started sympathizing with him at the end--he was, after all, just doing what he understood to be the right thing to do, what he'd been made to do. I actually wish they'd done more with the parallels between CLU and the main character as "abandoned" sons of Kevin Flynn's; it got hinted at towards the end, and would've made a super interesting dynamic if they'd played more with it.

And that really sums up the only problem I had with the movie: some really potentially neat stuff got set up, only to be under-utilized. The corruption and redemption of Tron himself was another good example of this. (Though I enjoyed how they had EVIL TRON be this faceless, silent, scary enforcer; that was cool.) Same with Quorra getting injured; it sort of diminished her presence in the latter half of the movie, until she got her groove back during the air chase.

Which again is a shame because omgggg Quorra! I loved her! Best "grew up isolated, doesn't get the outside world" character in a long time. I like how they didn't limit this to her misunderstanding culture/history (though they handled even that well; her excited "what's he like?!" in regards to Jules Verne was one of my favorite lines), but extended it to basic interaction as well. The laughing at inappropriate moments, the awkward pauses--it all really enriched her character.

And she was super hot. :'D

But, yeah, not a big complaint. Overall, it was a really well-crafted movie, I think, with a story that came together and held my interest better than I'd expected it to.

And now I will listen to the soundtrack foreverrrrrrr
