DocTranslate 2.2
Translate MS Office documents and create translation memories with this tool
Program info
In our globalized world, where one works with people that can be in a different country and even in a different continent, it is frequent that we need to translate documents, e-mails, Webpages and other texts. This light, easy-to-use program allows us to quickly translate any MS Word and PowerPoint documents, as well as their equivalents made with Open Office suite. We only need to select the document we want to translate and push the 'Engine Start' button. The program is compatible with the latest MS Office versions (2007 and 2010), and uses Google or Microsoft online translation services; hence its lightness. An interesting feature is the 'Improvement' tool, which selects several phrases of the document that can be enhanced by the translator. These enhancements can be saved into a translation memory file which will be used in later translations, thus freeing the translator from having to make these enhancements every time he/she translates files containing those phrases. The program also has batch processing capabilities, allowing you to translate entire folders of documents.
The shareware version of the program only allows you to translate the first slide or the first 20 sentences of PowerPoint files. If you want to get rid of this limitation, then you may want to purchase a license, which is very affordable.
