A real GP reads your case before any certificate is issued
When you are genuinely unwell and your workplace asks for evidence, you do not want a doctors note for work that was auto-approved without proper review.
You want one a doctor actually read and assessed. You also want a certificate your workplace can check if anyone questions it.
Some services issue a certificate in minutes by auto-approving a form. DoctorsNote is different. An AHPRA-registered GP reads your case and decides whether a certificate is clinically appropriate.
What makes it verifiable?
Every certificate includes a QR code and reference number so your employer can confirm it is genuine.
1
Scan the QR codeYour workplace can scan the code using a phone camera.
2
Enter the referenceThe certificate reference can be checked on the DoctorsNote website.
3

Get a sick leave certificate covering the days the GP assesses you need without leaving home.
Genuinely unwell and need to prove it?
A certificate a GP has actually reviewed, not one that looks auto-generated.
Sick before your swing or roster?
Get a reviewed certificate so a genuine illness does not put your roster at risk.
One flat fee for one day or two
A two-day certificate costs no more than a single day
Many common illnesses take more than one day to recover from. Your doctors note covers the period the GP assesses as clinically appropriate, up to two days.
Heading back after you have recovered? If your employer needs clearance, DoctorsNote also issues fit-to-work certificates. Certificates are reviewed and signed by a doctor registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and completed entirely online with no clinic visit.
DoctorsNote is built for the real moment of risk: when your employer asks for evidence and may need to check it. Every certificate is doctor-reviewed, verifiable and issued under one clear clinical standard.

Answers to the questions we hear most from patients and employers.
Is an online doctors note legal in Australia?
Yes. Online doctors notes are accepted when issued by an AHPRA-registered doctor and meet reasonable evidence requirements under the Fair Work Act.
Can my employer reject a doctors note?
Employers can question evidence, but a properly issued certificate from a registered GP is generally accepted. The key issue is whether the certificate is credible and issued by a registered GP. Our certificates are designed to hold up if questioned later.
Can a doctors note be backdated?
No. DoctorsNote does not issue backdated certificates. Certificates cover the date of application and forward.
How long is a doctors note valid for?
Certificates are valid for the dates of unfitness specified by the GP, depending on the condition and clinical judgement. Typical durations are 1 to 3 days.
Will my employer verify my certificate?
Most do not, but each certificate includes a unique reference your employer can verify online if required.
Do I need to speak to a doctor?
Each application is clinically reviewed by an AHPRA-registered GP. Additional input may be requested if your case requires further information.
How quickly can I get a doctors note?
DoctorsNote reviews your application within 24 hours and emails your doctors note once approved. $29.95 flat, up to 2 days.
Will my employer contact the doctor?
This is uncommon. Most employers verify the certificate’s authenticity using the unique reference rather than contacting the GP directly.
How quickly will I receive my certificate?
Most certificates are reviewed and issued within 24 hours after submission.
What if my application is declined?
If the GP assesses that a certificate is not clinically appropriate based on the information you provide, it will not be issued and you will be notified. The fee covers the doctor’s clinical assessment of your application, which is carried out regardless of the outcome, and is not refundable. This is what makes a DoctorsNote certificate credible — it is not auto-approved.
How we use AI
AI that assists your doctor — never replaces them
We’re upfront about technology. AI helps our GP work faster and write clearer, more useful advice — but a registered Australian doctor reviews, signs, and stands behind every certificate.
A doctor decides — not a machine
Every certificate is reviewed and signed by a registered Australian GP — currently Dr Rupinder Singh Walia (FRACGP · AHPRA MED0001647256). AI may help summarise your information, but the doctor makes the final clinical decision and is responsible for every certificate.
No AI training on your data
We don’t use your personal or health information to train AI models, and our AI provider doesn’t train its models on data sent through its commercial API (limited data may be briefly retained for security). We never sell or rent your information.
Your diagnosis stays private
To draft your advice note, we send the AI de-identified details such as your symptoms and timing. Your certificate — and its QR verification — show your name, dates and doctor, but never your diagnosis.
Transparent by design
We clearly identify each Australian and overseas provider that helps deliver this service — including our AI partner, payment and email providers — in our Privacy Policy.
