It covers supported multisite configurations, where multisite backups can be managed, what data is included in multisite backups, current limitations, and best practices for protecting multisite network data.\n<\/div>\n<h2>What Is Multisite Backup<\/h2>\n<p>WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro provides basic backup support for WordPress Multisite networks, enabling administrators to create full backups of the entire multisite network environment, including all subsites, network data, and shared resources.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is designed to protect complete multisite installations and simplify disaster recovery for network administrators.<\/p>\n<h2>Supported Multisite Configuration<\/h2>\n<p>Currently, WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro supports specific multisite setups.<\/p>\n<h4>Supported Network Type<\/h4>\n<p>WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro supports multisite networks that use the following structure:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"compressx-doc-list\">\n<li><strong>Subdirectory-based Multisite<\/strong><br \/>\nExample format: <em>example.com\/site1<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This configuration stores all subsites under the main domain using directory paths and is fully compatible with WPvivid&#8217;s multisite backup engine.<\/p>\n<h4>Unsupported Network Type (Current Limitation)<\/h4>\n<p>The following multisite configurations are not supported in the current version:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"compressx-doc-list\">\n<li><strong>Subdomain-based Multisite<\/strong><br \/>\nExample format: <em>site1.example.com<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro Works in Multisite<\/h2>\n<p>In WordPress Multisite environments, WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro operates exclusively at the network administration level.<\/p>\n<p>To access WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro in a multisite environment:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.wpvivid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/backup-pro-multisite-menu.png\" alt=\"Backup Pro Multisite Menu\" width=\"159\" height=\"346\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3664\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.wpvivid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/backup-pro-multisite-menu.png 159w, https:\/\/docs.wpvivid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/backup-pro-multisite-menu-138x300.png 138w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 159px) 100vw, 159px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul class=\"compressx-doc-list\">\n<li>1. Open <strong>WPvivid Plugin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What Gets Backed Up in Multisite Mode<\/h2>\n<p>When performing a multisite backup, WPvivid Backup &#038; Migration Pro creates a complete network-wide backup package.<\/p>\n<p>The backup includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"compressx-doc-list\">\n<li><strong>Network Database Tables<\/strong><br \/>\nAll multisite database tables, including network settings and subsite data.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All Subsites Content<\/strong><br \/>\nPosts, pages, media, users, and metadata from every site in the network.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plugins and Themes<\/strong><br \/>\nNetwork-activated and site-activated plugins and themes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Uploads and Media Files<\/strong><br \/>\nAll media files stored across the multisite environment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Core Site Files<\/strong><br \/>\nShared WordPress core files and configuration-related data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wpvivid-warning\"><strong>Warning<\/strong><br \/>\nMultisite backups are created as full network packages. Optionally add a comment to identify the backup.<\/li>\n<li>4. Choose between <strong>General Backup<\/strong> or <strong>Incremental Backup<\/strong> tabs.<\/li>\n<li>3. Click <strong>Create a job<\/strong> to set up automated network backups.<\/li>\n<li>4. Configure backup type, schedule frequency, and storage location.<\/li>\n<li>5. Enable the schedule using the On\/off toggle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Scheduled backups will automatically back up your entire Multisite network according to the configured schedule.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpvivid-tip\"><strong>Tip<\/strong><br \/>\nMultisite network backups can be larger and take longer to complete than single site backups. Ensure your hosting environment has sufficient resources and storage space before initiating network-wide backup operations.<\/div>\n<h2>Known Limitations<\/h2>\n<p>Current multisite backup limitations include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"compressx-doc-list\">\n<li><strong>Subdirectory Structure Only<\/strong><br \/>\nOnly subdirectory-based multisite networks are supported. Subdomain-based multisite configurations are not compatible.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Network Admin Access Required<\/strong><br \/>\nMultisite operations must be managed from the Network Admin dashboard. Individual site administrators cannot access multisite backup features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Network-Level Backups Only<\/strong><br \/>\nBacking up individual subsites separately is not supported. All backups include the entire multisite network.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Selective Subsite Restore<\/strong><br \/>\nRestoring a single subsite independently from a multisite backup is not supported.
