Use them to show an on-page message, send the submitter to a WordPress page, or redirect to any URL (for thank you pages, tracking, or passing query strings). See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/confirmations-and-notifications\/\">Getting Started: Confirmations and Notifications.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-a-new-confirmation\">Create a New Confirmation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to have a form created already. If you need to learn how to do so, you may review our article on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/creating-a-form\/\">creating forms<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your WordPress Admin, go to&nbsp;<strong>Forms \u2192 [Your Form] \u2192 Form Settings \u2192 Confirmations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A list of all confirmations that exist for that form is displayed.<br>You will see the&nbsp;<strong>Default Confirmation<\/strong>&nbsp;in the list. Click its name to change its Type and Content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To add a new confirmation, click the&nbsp;<strong>Add New<\/strong>&nbsp;button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick a unique name for yourself to identify the confirmation. It is not displayed to the user, but for admin purposes. Use the Add Media button to add an image or video. If you want to disable the auto-formatting of the text, enable the checkbox labeled <strong>Disable Auto-formatting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-page-confirmation-type\">Page Confirmation Type<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With the <strong>Page<\/strong> setting within the <strong>Confirmation Type<\/strong> options, you can set a page within your site that the user will be sent to upon submitting the form. If a security plugin or other method disables the REST API on your site, the Page dropdown may not be populated with all the pages on your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a custom confirmation page option, you may also have the form data sent to the page. For example, if you want the information on the page to change based on the form information submitted, add merge tags to the box under Pass Field Data via Query String.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-syntaxhighlighter-code \"><pre class=\"brush: bash; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\nphone={Phone:1}&email={Email:2}\n<\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-redirect-confirmation-type\">Redirect Confirmation Type<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">If you want the user to be redirected to another location, such as an external site, <span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">you may set the&nbsp;<strong>Redirect<\/strong>&nbsp;option upon submitting the form<\/span>.<\/span> To do so, select <strong>Redirect<\/strong> as the <strong>Confirmation Type<\/strong>, and enter the full URL that you want the user to be redirected to in the <strong>Redirect URL<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"702\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5-1024x702.png\" alt=\"Configuring Confirmations - Redirect Confirmations\" class=\"wp-image-45592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5-1024x702.png 1024w, https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5-300x206.png 300w, https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5-768x527.png 768w, https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5-1536x1054.png 1536w, https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-5.png 1828w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also pass the form information via a query string in the URL. Under <strong>Pass Field Data via Query String<\/strong> add merge tags. Next to this field is a <strong>Merge Tag icon {..}<\/strong> to make adding merge tags easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-notes\">Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Avoid using a parameter name from this\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.wordpress.org\/reference\/functions\/register_taxonomy\/#reserved-terms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">list of reserved WordPress terms<\/a> when using the Page or Redirect Confirmation types. One commonly used parameter that is a Reserved Term is &#8216;name&#8217;, which will result in a 404 Not Found error if your Redirect URL is for a WordPress website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-changing-the-default-confirmation-message\">Changing the Default Confirmation Message<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To display a custom confirmation message, you must edit the <strong>Default Confirmation<\/strong> or create a new confirmation with conditional logic enabled. The Default Confirmation will be used if the logic fails on additional confirmations. The form must always process one confirmation; therefore, the <strong>Default Confirmation<\/strong> cannot be deleted, removed, or inactivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, customize the <b>Default Confirmation<\/b> to use the same confirmation for all users submitting the form. If you want to show a different confirmation based on conditional logic, add as many new confirmations as you may need and configure conditional logic for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert_yellow pad_20\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> It is not possible to add conditional logic to the default confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more advanced information on confirmation messages, take a look at our article on <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/conditional-logic-confirmations\/\">confirmation message conditional logic<\/a> in which you will learn how to display different confirmation messages based on conditions specified about the form content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-looking-for-email-confirmation\">Looking for Email Confirmation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gravity Forms uses the term <span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>&#8220;Notification&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0to refer to emails sent after submission or other possible\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gravityforms.com\/gravity-forms-notification-events\/\" target=\"_blank\">events<\/a>.
