1. I used the Clone Stamp Tool and the Smudge Tool to erase everything but Cook. I'm not going to explain this any further (since it really depends on your picture), but if you need any help on this, do not hesitate to ask me ;)

2. Next I added this gradient and set it to Overlay, opacity: 54%

3. Then add a new layer, fill it with #00143c and set it to exclusion (100%)

4. Add another layer, fill it with #ec8be2, set it to Soft Light (43%)

5. Stamp Visible (Shift + CTRL + ALT + E) and Sharpen. If your image looks TOO sharpened, go to Edit -> Fade Sharpen

6. Add this texture by ?? (please tell me, if you know) and set it to Linear Burn (100%)

7. Last but not least I added some text, Font: Century Gothic; #cfcfcf

Have you ever had a pet that ran away? Did you eventually find her or him? If not, how long did it take you to recover?

Thank God, I haven't. Funny thing is that I thought my cat ran away a few years ago. He didn't come home for 2 days. I was awefully worried and couldn't stop crying. Guess I wouldn't take it that easy if he would run away for real. Or die. x(

Well, I'm back with my second tutorial. Hope you like it, comments would be lovely. :)

How to go from this to

made with PS CS2, definitely translatable

1. I chose this cap of Meredith and Derek because it has a very simple background and I basically don’t have to erase anything :P
If you DO have a “messy” background, just use the polygonal lasso tool to erase your background. Otherwise just pick a color similar to the background of your picture (in this case I used #939f95) with the help of the Eyedropper Tool and fill your background.

2. Now use the Smudge Tool to smudge the background around Meredith & Derek. Then merge your layers.

3. Add this texture by lifeisdolce and move it to the left side. Then I used a brush by touchstonesart.com to erase some parts (but you can also use a soft brush, doesn’t matter too much).

4. Add this texture by latastic, move it to the left and set it to multiply (100%)

5. Now add another texture by ?? and set it to multiply (100%)

->

6. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set it to soft light (100%)

7. Fill a new layer with #000b23 and set it to Exclusion (100%)

8. Add this texture by spooky_window ans set it to Overlay (100%)

9. Fill a new layer with #cebd77 and set it to multiply (72%)

10. Add this texture by ?? and set it to screen

How to go from to

This is my first icon tutorial, so don't expect too much. ;D Oh, and I'm from Germany so please don't mind if I make any mistakes. ^^

1. Sharpen your base and fade sharpening about 70%.

2. Duplicate it twice & set them to screen 100% and desturate the last layer.

3. Time for selective coloring... \o/ :p

New Adjustment Layer -> Selective Coloring:

Reds: 64, 31, 0, 0
Yellow: 100, 0, -58, 0
Neutrals: 0, -13, 0, -39

to

4. Add this brush in #ffffff
to

5. Add this Gradient and set it to Lighten 100%
to

6. Now it's up to you if you want to add some text. I added "VM" (Perpetua Titling MT, V=30pt, M=18pt, #e9e9e9) and this Brush can't remember where it's from, sorry).

That's it. Easy, huh?
