The program uses S.M.A.R.T data monitoring to help you anticipate HDD failures, before these actually occur. This is important as it will give you a chance to backup your data before it becomes unrecoverable.
While testing DiskCheckup I found sound functions that I actually appreciated. From my point of view, one of the best features that this program has to offer is that it can monitor the temperature of your hard-disk. What’s even better is that you can choose a threshold and, if the temperature goes above it, the program will notify you either through a message window or via e-mail.
Another advantage of using DiskCheckup is that the application allows you to export the drive information, SMART data and SMART history as text files. Unfortunately, this function has a glitch: if you change the name of the output file, the program will automatically save it without an extension.
As a personal opinion, DiskCheckup is a handy application that I recommend. The program provides a lot of useful information, it is easy to operate and it takes up very few resources, so it is definitely worth having.
