How do I change or reset my password?

If you would like to change your password you can do that on the Forgotten Password page. Simply enter the email address that is linked to your DigVentures account and you’ll be sent a link to securely reset your password.


Online Shop

Will my payment details be secure?

We use PayPal for all payment processing so when you check out you will be taken over to their website to complete your purchase. The PayPal checkout is secured with SSL, encrypting the information sent from your browser to PayPal. No sensitive payment information (i.e. your credit/debit card details) are passed on to us, but we do have access to the name, email address and billing address you use when booking. I don't have a PayPal account, can I still buy from you?

In most cases no. At checkout you will be passed through to the PayPal website as they handle all our payment processing. There you will be presented with the option to make payment using a PayPal account or to ‘Check Out as a Guest‘ and pay with a debit or credit card. The exceptions to this are if the email address you are using is already associated with a PayPal account or if you have used PayPal’s guest checkout very recently on another website. In these cases PayPal may not present you with the option to use your credit and debit card. But using an alternative email address should allow you select your payment method of choice.


Will you confirm my purchase?

Yes, an order confirmation email will be sent immediately after you complete your purchase with details of what you have ordered and how much you have paid.

These emails can take up to 15 minutes to arrive in your inbox. If you haven’t received an email within that time first check your Spam/Junk folder or run a search for emails from info@digventures.com before getting in touch.


How long are gift certificates valid for?

Gift Certificates are valid for one year from purchase and are non-refundable. Please email us before it expires if you haven’t used it in that time and want to ask us about renewing it for an extra year.

Why should I support DigVentures' mission?

Because we’re different, and we’re changing the way archaeology is done, that’s why!

DigVentures is not like other archaeology organisations. We do archaeology that is for everyone. Whether it’s digs that you can join, investigations that can only happen with your support, or exciting new ways to enjoy our discoveries online, we work our tooshies off all year round to put amazing archaeology ‘in your hands’.

Maybe you love archaeology and want to learn more, but don’t feel comfortable in an academic environment. Maybe you always dreamed of being an archaeologist, but life got in the way. Maybe you love seeing youngsters getting hands-on with history. We’re here for you!

We invite you into our trenches to dig with our team, into our Finds Rooms to work with artefacts, into our online courses to learn new skills and techniques, and to join in with the many other events that happen across all of our projects.

Because archaeology doesn’t stop when we close our trenches at the end of Field Season. DV Subscriptions is our way of supporting the great archaeology we do, all year round. Most importantly, it’s about putting you right where you belong: in the pickle jar! Right in the middle of the action.

In fact, that’s one of the most important things about becoming a Subscriber: you can be part of our work from anywhere in the world.

We’ve been sharing our discoveries online since the very first day of our very first dig. So, as well as creating new opportunities to be involved with us in person, we use our Subscriptions to create more archaeology that you can enjoy at home (for kids too!)

Can I gift a Subscription to someone else?

Yes, of course you can! When you purchase your Subscription, you can let us know that it’s a gift and who it’s for. You’ll receive a Gift Certificate in your email receipt that you can download and print.

To transfer the subscription, simply follow the instructions on the Gift Certificate: once you’ve given your gift, the recipient will just need to email us with the order number, your name, and their name and email address so we can make the transfer.

Please remember that Subscriptions are recurring and will automatically renew. If you buy an annual Subscription, you’ll get a reminder before it renews and can cancel at any time. Access to the Subscription will then continue until the end of the term you’ve paid for.


How will I find out about more about my perks and all the stuff coming up?

You can login and see what’s available. You will also begin to receive special Subscriber emails and updates, reminding you of all the cool things you can do and book.

Can I give money or support DV without becoming a Subscriber?

Yes you can, and here’s how. If you only want to make a one-off contribution, you have two choices:

  1. You can support one of our crowdfunding campaigns if you’re interested in one excavation in particular.
  2. You can throw us a financial contribution in our Pay It Forward Tip Jar. We’ll use this to do more lab analysis, create new online content, or make a place for someone who can’t otherwise afford it.

Do Subscriptions automatically renew?

Yes, all Subscriptions automatically renew until they are cancelled. If you choose an annual Subscription, you’ll get a reminder email around two weeks before the next renewal date. You can also check the status of your subscription and its renewal date at any time from within your DigVentures account.


What are my payment options for subscriptions?

Currently all our Subscription payments are processed by PayPal, using either your PayPal balance or a credit/debit card. We hope to add alternative payment providers in the near future.


What happens after I subscribe?

You’ll hear the Indiana Jones theme song blasting out of every speaker in your house. It’s a neat trick we figured out how to do.

KIDDDINNGGGGGG, that won’t really happen (but it would be fun, wouldn’t it?)

As soon as you’ve subscribed, you’ll be able to login and start doing stuff straight away – from online courses, to catching up on our past events archive.

You’ll also get a lovely welcome email with all the information you will need to know about what your Subscription includes, how to access everything, and top tips on making the most of your subscription.

We will leave no stone unturned in making sure you know how to get the most out of your subscription … and if we DO leave a stone unturned, we probably did it on purpose so that you could find whatever is underneath it!


How do I cancel my Subscription?

It’ll be a shame to lose your perks and access to online courses, but you can rejoin at any time. If you do need to cancel, just login to your DigVentures account, select ‘Subscription’ from the My Account menu, and then click the Cancel button next to the subscription you wish to cancel. Access to your Subscription account will continue until the end of the term you’ve already paid for.

We’ll send you an email to confirm your cancellation, and you’ll be able to tell us why – it helps us to know when there’s something we can fix. And of course, you’ll always be welcome to rejoin at any time and continue engaging with us in other ways!


Can I get a refund?

Subscription payments are non-refundable. If you decide to cancel, access to your Subscription account will continue until the end of the month or year you’ve already paid for.


Online Courses

What is the difference between self-guided and cohort-led courses?

At DigVentures, we use both ‘self-guided’ and ‘cohort-led’ course delivery formats, depending on the course. Here a bit more about how that works:

Self-guided courses are not bound to a fixed schedule and can be completed at any time. The pace of learning is set by the learner and all learning materials are available on-demand.

Cohort-led courses are those where a group of students advance through a course together. These will have time-sensitive assignments’ live sessions and opportunities for 1:1 instruction.


Why do I need a DigVentures account to book a course?

Because the course content is only made available to participants who book through our Online Shop we give you a unique username and password to access the course, we call this your DigVentures account.

Your username will be the email address used when booking and you will also be prompted to set a password at checkout. If you have purchased from us before you may already have a DigVentures account. So if your email address matches an existing account you will be prompted to log in to complete your purchase. If you have forgotten your password you can quickly reset it here.


How will I access the online course content?

When the course starts we will send you an email with a link to the first chapter. You’ll use your DigVentures account details to log in and unlock the course materials.

You can also access any live courses you are enrolled on from the Courses section of My Account.


Can I change the email address chapter updates are sent to?

Yes, the easiest way to change the email address we’ll send any course updates to is to click the ‘Manage your preferences’ link that appears at the bottom of any of the course emails. Here you can quickly update your contact address and all subsequent emails will be sent to that.

Alternatively you can reply to any of our emails and request the change, but please bear in mind that it might take a few days for your request to be processed by one of the team.


Will I get a certificate for completing the course?

If you want one, you will get one! In the last section of the course you will be asked to complete our feedback survey. Feedback will help us to further refine and tailor the course based on which bits you loved, and which bits we need to work on. To get your certificate just complete the survey, then provide a postal address and we’ll pop it in the mail!
