FAQs
DV’s professional courses are endorsed by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, and built upon the framework of National Occupational Standards (NOS) .
The NOS standards define the range of skills that heritage professionals may need to perfect in order to do their job, and provide the perfect framework for training programmes by breaking down a complicated job into a collection of individual skills and tasks. This is very effective for both professional and avocational archaeologists, as it provides a clear roadmap for skills development.
At DV, we use both formats, depending on the course. Here a bit more about how that works:
Self-guided courses are not bound to a fixed schedule and can be completed at any time. The pace of learning is set by the learner and all learning materials are available on-demand.
Cohort-led courses are those where a group of students advance through a course together. These will have time-sensitive assignments’ live sessions and opportunities for 1:1 instruction.
Be sure to make yourself aware of in which format the course you’re taking is offered!
Courses for everyone
As well as our learning modules for practitioners, our award winning team have put together a programme of online courses for anyone who wants to learn more about digging up the past - and have fun at the same time!
