Digital Learning Lab
Staying up to date on our research in a fast-moving landscape
Why does a research lab need a blog?
The Digital Learning Lab at the University of California, Irvine is doing cutting edge work at the intersection of technology and literacy education. Sometimes we have things to say that just don’t fit in an academic article. And sometimes we want to talk to people who would rather not read an academic article. So this is a forum for staying up to date with our work in a more conversational space. Want us to talk about something specifically? Email us at DigitalLearningLab@uci.edu
1. Our main projects
We have three main projects: Computing and AI for All; Converse to Learn; and Generative AI in Education. We are teaching students from 3 years old to graduate students to use digital technology to support their learning of things like computational thinking, digital literacy, reading, AI literacy, and writing.
2. Want to learn more about one of our projects?
Want to learn more? We have a lot of information on each project, our funders, and our research to date on our website: DigitalLearningLab.org and the subsites for each of the projects: ComputingAndAIForAll.org; ConverseToLearn.org; and GenAIEd.org
3. Do you have any resources?
Yes! Each of our project sites have curriculum, professional development materials, and more. We believe in open science, so you’ll see most of our work is licensed for re use with a CC:BY license. We’d love to see what you do with our resources.
4. So how often will you be writing on Substack?
We really don’t know. We just had something we wanted to write about and thought that maybe someone would find it useful. So we are trying this out. But not making any promises. Though we’re doing a lot of fun, exciting work across our projects so stay tuned!
