Description
It was always the plan to do a night version of my new “Thunderhead” render. It was a bit tricky figuring out how to illuminate the scene using only lightning bolts and starlight. I’m sure some folks will say the scene is too dark for their monitors as the colors on my Samsung G9 are pretty bright and vivid. I’d considered having a sailboat in the foreground of the day version but, in the end, went with the leaping dolphins. It seemed like a good idea to add it back here with a little lantern light to provide some contrast. Which version do you prefer?

I prefer this one, but both have their merit.

Love this! The dark ones are my favorite. The details are awesome on a big screen. The boat was a great touch!

I like both versions, but I find I love your night scenes more; while the dolphins are wonderful, I really like the sailboat on the open sea at night, running ahead of a storm. It really fires the imagination. So I vote the night version. But thanks for doing both renders!

Amazing Ryan! Love the boat, it is what the foreground needs with the lantern lights on it and now I wounder about the day version thinking….wow, it’d be cool with the boat! Not too dark at all, it pops on my screen just fine. The lighting on the water, boat, sky, everything is great.

This is gorgeous, Ryan. The atmosphere (pun intended) is just right – exudes the power of nature, you can almost feed the humid cold wind. No wonder sailors were (and are) deeply superstitious people!

I love this, especially the lighting of the sea and the light coming from the boat. Beautiful.
