Specifications
Technical specifications to help users publish and use consistent planning data.
Open standards
The following specifications are open data standards.
These standards have been tested with data providers and we are confident they meet the needs of data consumers.
We don't expect these standards to change very often but they may be expanded if required. We expect publishers to follow these standards
Candidate specifications
The following specifications are being used by a larger group of users before becoming an approved data standard via the Levelling and Regeneration Act 2023.
These specifications have been tested by users to confirm they include the required data and that we understand as far as possible the impacts on users conforming to the specification.
We expect these specifications to be stable and not to change significantly.
Pilot specifications
The following specifications are being tested with a select number of data providers to ensure they work with their processes, are able to represent existing data, and meet the user needs.
A pilot specification could change as we undertake further testing.
Working drafts

We expect these specifications to evolve as we learn more about user needs and the data landscape.
