Inspiration

We wanted to make enjoying matcha more social, fun, and rewarding. Many people track habits, but few let you see your community in real time, celebrate streaks, or feel part of a larger culture. Zip & Sip brings that to life.

What it does

Zip & Sip lets users log their matcha moments, see a live feed of other drinks, track streaks, check nearby cafés on a map, and celebrate top participants with fun recognition. It also provides playful insights, trends, and optional audio recaps to make participation feel meaningful.

How we built it

We used React Native for the app interface, with MongoDB Atlas to simulate user data, MapView for geolocation, and mocked APIs to show real-time trends, analytics, and cultural moments. Optional AI and blockchain features were added in the code to show advanced capabilities like trend detection, NFTs, and storytelling without affecting the main app.

Challenges we ran into

Making the app feel dynamic while mostly using hardcoded data
Handling map interactions and location permissions on both iOS and Android
Designing a clean, social feed layout that is intuitive and visually appealing
