Inspiration π‘
Having learnt from my mother's experiences, we understand the challenges of navigating pregnancy and early motherhood. Access to reliable information, localized resources, and supportive communities is crucial, but often scattered and hard to find. We were inspired to create Zero Kare, a platform that empowers expectant mothers with location-specific information, helpful quizzes, and a sense of community, all within a fun and engaging interactive map experience.π
What it does β¨
Zero Kare helps expecting mothers access essential information and resources relevant to their location. Users can explore a 3D map πΊοΈ, discover nearby hospitals and clinics π₯, read reviews, and even complete location-based quizzes π to earn points and climb the leaderboard. We also provide real-time environmental data π³ and personalized health recommendations π based on air quality, temperature, and humidity at the user's chosen location. It's like having a personalized pregnancy guide right at your fingertips!
How we built it βοΈ
We leveraged the power of Google Cloud's Maps JavaScript API, Places API, and Elevation API to create the interactive 3D map experience and location-based services. We integrated Gemini Nano via Chrome's built-in AI APIs (specifically the Prompt API) to generate dynamic quiz questions related to each location. We used Chart.js for data visualization and nanohtml for generating quiz HTML within our map. Finally, a sprinkle of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS brought it all together.
Challenges we ran into π
Integrating nanohtml with the map and managing state for smooth transitions between map interactions, quizzes, and alerts proved tricky. We also encountered some challenges parsing the AI-generated quiz responses reliably and ensuring a robust fallback mechanism. Getting the confetti and baby sounds to work consistently across multiple interactions also required careful debugging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of π
We're thrilled to have built a functional and engaging app that addresses a real need for expectant mothers. We're especially proud of the dynamic quiz generation powered by Gemini Nano and the seamless integration of location-based services with interactive map elements. The sleek and responsive UI and the touch of fun with confetti and sounds are the cherries on top! π
What we learned π€
This hackathon was a fantastic learning experience in working with cutting-edge AI APIs, integrating multiple Google Cloud services, and building a complex web application. We deepened our understanding of state management, asynchronous programming, and the importance of robust error handling. Most importantly, we learned the power of collaboration and open communication.
What's next for Zero Kare π
We envision Zero Kare expanding to include more comprehensive resources, such as prenatal class finders, support groups, and personalized content based on pregnancy stage. We also want to enhance the community features, enabling expectant mothers to connect and share experiences. Gamification with more challenges and rewards, personalized recommendations from experts, and integration with wearable health trackers are also on the roadmap. Zero Kare is just the beginning of our journey to empower expectant mothers!
