Inspiration
As regular players of the game GeoGuessr, we always wanted to make a game similar in style to it.
What it does
YouTube Guesser is a game where the player can guess the number of views a randomly generated YouTube video has and earn a score from 0-5000 depending on their accuracy.
How we built it
YouTube Guesser uses the YouTube API to fetch a random video and JSON data containing the view count of the video. The scoring system used is also similar to that of GeoGuessr's with the score calculated by an exponential decay formula.
Challenges we ran into
The time crunch made it difficult for us to manage our progress and some of us had other responsibilities. Nonetheless, we still worked our hardest and tried our best.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We became more familiar with the Google Cloud Platform and its services.
What we learned
We learned to use some of the functions related to YouTube API.
What's next for YouTube Guesser
With some work, the game can be improved by adding a more fine-tuned scoring system, multiple rounds, and even multiplayer!
