Inspiration

Social Enterprises often face the struggle between pursuing valuable social causes while remaining profitable. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, social enterprises faces unprecedented challenges that we hope to alleviate through the the use of technology. What if we could match underutilised resources within our community to the social enterprises in need of help? From volunteering to marketing to even software development, these are manpower resources that social enterprises can leverage on. After all, there is a growing community of concerned citizens that wish to be more involved in meaningful social causes and with the vulnerable communities.

What it does

You Tell Me is a web-based application that allows for interested individuals to source valuable opportunities to contribute to the social enterprise scene in their own capacities. Social enterprises are able to raise potential resources and/or help they hope to get from the community and interested applicants can apply. A matchmaking application for the social good!

How we built it

Powered by ReactJS and Firebase, we made use of Visual Studio Code Live Share to remotely work with one another as we built this project!

Challenges we ran into

Deployment was a challenge that we faced. Additionally, dealing with firebase for the first time for the majority of us was a huge hurdle to overcome with half dealing with ReactJS for the first time. Nonetheless, mutual understanding and complementing one another enabled us to learn from each other and achieve success.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A working prototype that we hope that can inspire the judges and relevant stakeholders.

What we learned

Through empathising with Social Enterprises as we were ideating for a solution, I think we managed to uncover man salient problems faced by the Social Enterprise and we hope to continue doing more in this sector.

What's next for YouTellMe

We intend to engage Social Enterprises and potential volunteers (students) to better understand their thoughs to gather insights to better our prototype. We hope to show communities that as a community helping one another, much more can be achieved.
