Inspiration

Inspired by the chaotic fun of Overcooked, we aimed to create a multiuser Mixed Reality cooking game where players collaborate in a fast-paced (co-located) kitchen.

What it does

The game is a multiplayer MR experience where players work together in a virtual kitchen to prepare and serve dishes under time pressure, blending real-world interactions with virtual elements.

How we built it

We used Meta Quest, Meta Presence Platform, Unity, Photon Fusion 2, and ShapesXR, along with assets from the Unity Asset Store, to build the game within 48 hours.

Challenges we ran into

Synchronizing the kitchen for both players and managing the complexities of a multiuser MR game were our biggest challenges, especially given the short timeframe.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully created a functional and fun multiuser MR game in just 48 hours, achieving effective co-location and real-time synchronization.

What we learned

Multiuser setups make even basic tasks complex without proper code structure. This project taught us the importance of solid architecture in a multiuser environment.

What's next for YES CHEF

Next, we plan to refine the game, optimize performance, and expand features to enhance the overall experience.
