Inspiration
Our inspiration was the song "The First Snow" by EXO, K-pop music, and Instagram reels. The K-pop songs helped us realize how much music helps to alleviate our moods, helps calm us down, and is just something nice to dance to. Instagram Reels helped direct the theme of our app, which we want it to be less of a social media app where users don’t have to worry about distractions (reels) and focus more on connections, physical activities, concentration, and feeling calm.
What it does
The app has four levels/tasks for the user to complete; each one of the tasks is a fun activity that the users can do with a friend or a second player. The first task is a coffee shop where users need to create a playlist, and the second task is to guess the artist from a random lyric they sang. The third task is Dance Battle, where users can either learn the two dance tutorials provided or other dances on their own, and the fourth task is a rest place for the users to study anything they want. When the fourth task is completed, the user will be directed to the final stage of the app, a treasure box, where encouragement sentences are generated every time the user clicks on the button.
How we built it
We built it using Xcode, SwiftUI, and Procreate.
Challenges we ran into
One of the difficulties we encountered in creating our project was trying to create a multiplayer game in the app. We tried using Game Center to connect players to the game, but it didn't work out because we don't have a developer account. We hope to improve this aspect of our app by creating our own server with Firebase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the designs we created for the app. We picked calming colors and drew cute figures.
What we learned
We picked up a lot of SwiftUI code knowledge along the way that can help us create our next project.
What's Next for The First Snow
Making it multiplayer so that users can connect with their friends within the app, expand to more music platforms, and more activities that focus on community and physical and mental wellness.
