We successfully created a prototype of a texting site for people struggling through mental disorders and illnesses to give them the opportunity to connect and rejuvenate. Our site takes user info to direct them towards group chats with people going through similar struggles. We’ve faced numerous challenges while tackling this site. One of the main challenges was to create a chat room where we can send and receive messages. Using React JS, we programmed a series of functions to send and display our texted messages. However, in the time frame, we were unable to save messages on the screen for two users to text at the same time. But, we created a mock environment where the computer generates text messages after each response. In the future, we hope to expand our prototype for multiple users to text at the same time. This project taught us how to quickly execute newly learned code and tested and heightened our perseverance and patience through the countless errors we faced.
