Meet Ruth and her family. She’s your typical grandmother. Though she’s had a minor heart attack, she is still functional and lives by herself. Her family is still worried about her - if something bad happens, how would they know? How does Ruth get the help she needs if something goes wrong?
Elderly patients, like Ruth, are the fastest growing segment of health utilizers. Acute emergencies account for over 100 billion in healthcare costs annually. Wrapit will revolutionize the healthcare industry through prevention and rapid response to accidents in elderly patients.
Nothing like this exists. Wrapit is a smart, simple band that automatically monitors and transmits biometric data. Innovative machine-learning algorithms detect anomalies in heart rate. An accelerometer can sense falls and can send corresponding alerts. Wrapit is also equipped with WiFi and GPS for cloud integration. A key differentiating factor is integration with existing healthcare systems. Data is automatically transmitted to Ruth’s doctor for long-term monitoring.
Everybody has elderly relatives. Through market interviews, we received feedback that highlighted privacy concerns. To address these, Ruth decides who the alert notifies - emergency responders, physicians, and/or family. Interviewees also mentioned stigma about seeming old. That is why Wrapit is designed to be minimalist and non-assuming.
Wrapit’s key is in its simplicity. Potential competitors require significant technological literacy, but Ruth doesn’t know how to do any of that. With Wrapit, all she needs to do is put the band on, and the automated monitoring activates. Her family and doctor have real-time access to comprehensive health analytics.
Wrapit brings automated and non-invasive healthcare monitoring to our most vulnerable population. With funding, we would create a physical product for small scale testing. Let’s make Wrapit a reality for the Ruths in your life.
