Inspiration
The frustrations we’ve all faced while job hunting—spending hours sifting through job postings only to find few relevant roles and even fewer which match one's qualifications. And once found, applicants are forced to repeatedly answer the same questions—name, email, past experiences—on countless applications. We knew there had to be a better way. With Work'd, we sought to simplify and centralize the process, making job hunting quicker and more efficient. The app cuts through the clutter by providing tailored job recommendations, eliminating redundant steps, and creating a seamless, user-friendly experience for candidates and recruiters.
What it does
Work'd creates an attractive and addictive way to job search and recruit right from your phone. Work'd provides an interactive and easy-to-use interface that allows future employees and recruiters to connect easily, eliminating the long recruiting and application process. By swiping left or right on jobs, you can instantly apply and indicate your interest in the position, and if you are matched with the recruiter, you can land your dream job!
How we built it
This project was built with a Svelte-based frontend with TailwindCSS and a Python-based backend using Flask, Beautiful Soup web scraping, and the OpenAI API.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenges that we ran into included on-time and relevant image generation and prompting for Dall-E and figuring out web scrapping and data retrieval.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing a functioning project while studying for our midterm on Monday 😭
What we learned
How to do web scraping and how to write a research paper.
What's next for Work’d
Improving the job recommendation algorithm for users such that more relevant jobs will appear in the user's feed depending on the jobs they choose to apply for.
