Inspiration
We wanted to provide a free writing software that writers of all levels could use.
What it does
It helps writers organize their stories, make character profiles and store their writing for free online
How we built it
We coded everything ourselves but we used a lot of Node.js packages. We didn't use templates . We did all the design and art aspects ourselves. Everything we did we spent a lot of time brainstorming and discussion. All the features we didn't think absolutely necessary we cut out to create a smooth, uncluttered UI.
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of bugs. We had to change our backend which introduced more bugs because our backend announced they were ending their service. We also had to work on agreeing on what features we wanted to add.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our 345 users. We are also proud of our own writing that we did on the website. Our ability to work together effectively and efficiently as a team is also something we are proud of.
What we learned
We learned all the programming languages on the go. We applied what we learned from a lot of the CS classes we took. Self sufficiency was another skill we learned while working on this project. We also learned that being young women won't hold us back in the CS field.
What's next for Wordcradle Updates
We are going to continue updating more and more features and improving upon the features we already have. We will update more, and more, and more, and more, and more, and more, and more, and more, etc.
