Inspiration
The inspiration behind this comes our realization that women are less involved in the financial world and thus have less financial freedom. We aim to promote the equality of women in finance and encourage them to invest their money, instead of leaving it in a bank account, if they have the means. This calculator aims to provide financial advice based on one's circumstances.
What it does
It is a website that shows our mission, and includes a budget calculator where the user can input each factor of their income and expenses. The calculator will calculate their total monthly income, total monthly expenses, and the total monthly savings. This will show the user their financial health, and advise them on financial tips they can do to invest and increase the financial wellbeing.
How we built it
We built the website using HTML and CSS for the design and flow of the website, and Javascript to deal with the input/output of the budget calculator.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges while building our project, one being that we didn't have prior experience with Javascript. It was a challenging project due to our limited web development experience. It was very difficult to learn it in a short amount of time, and we ran into many bugs that were difficult to solve, such as getting the input properly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of eventually figuring out how to align the boxes with the text in the budget calculator, as well as changing the input properly.
What we learned
We learned that we must persevere even when times are tough, and that it is extremely important to have a strict plan to ensure that we get things done in a timely manner.
What's next for WinInvest
We hope to finish this project and eventually make it a workable product that can give tailored financial advice based on the results.
