Inspiration
Our inspiration for HackKU is a wiki race but through the lens of rogue-likes like the Binding of Isaac and Enter the Gungeon
What it does
It is a video game to is meant to be played. Our project transforms the experience of navigating webpages to exploring a dynamic, self-building roguelike adventure.
How we built it
We built it from the ground up using just the pygame and requests packages.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the camera to work, learning source control, multiple types of collision detection, and many concept design choices were among difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Dungeon generation, wiki parsing, and a stable and solid-feeling engine.
What we learned
So much about Pygame, Github, and of course, teamwork.
What's next for Wikidungeon
We built this project as a proof of concept- so many potential features remain unimplemented that would contribute to the wiki race theme and to being a fully fleshed-out game. This includes items that have special effects, more UI elements (history, togglable map, inventory button), and even a variety of game modes. We have diligently structured our code in such a way that allows for easy expansion.
