What the Honk
Inspiration
We wanted to make something fun and stupid, fitting the hackathon theme. Then we thought: what if geese ran the justice system? Geese are loud, aggressive, and absolutely not qualified to be judges—which is exactly why they’re perfect. Thus, we decided to make something so unhinged for people who need a good laugh!
What it does
It’s a browser game where you’re put on trial by geese.
They accuse you of ridiculous crimes like:
- “Suspicious standing.”
- “Crimes against bread.”
- “The use of a peace sign dictates geese behavior.”
The game might use your webcam as “evidence” (which will definitely not help your case). You defend yourself using your voice, while the geese interrupt, honk, and ignore key details.
At the end, they decide your fate. It will not be fair.
How we built it
We built a web app with camera and voice features, then added a system that generates completely unhinged courtroom scenarios.
Then we layered in dramatic voices, chaotic dialogue, and a simple game flow that keeps things moving while everything falls apart.
Challenges
Getting everything to run smoothly without breaking was hard.
Also, sometimes things go weird in ways that are either hilarious or deeply concerning.
Accomplishments
It actually works. You can get accused, defend yourself, and be judged by geese from start to finish.
That’s a real thing you can experience now.
What we learned
Building something silly is easy—making it work while staying silly is the hard part.
Also, if something is slightly broken but very funny, you keep it.
What’s next
More chaos:
- More goose personalities
- More ridiculous charges
- Maybe multiplayer (multiple defendants, unlimited honking)
