We designed an app called “Welocity” for young adults ages 18 to 30 who spend significant time on social media but also want to build healthier screen time habits. We blended “well” from well being with “velocity” to capture our vision of fast moving health progress, and our tagline- “Accelerate your well being”- sums up the promise of turning every step into forward motion. A competitive audit of existing digital wellbeing tools revealed a strong appetite for fitness based challenges that can be shared socially. By tapping into the growth of social fitness influencing recently, we made accountability into an engaging peer supported experience. Each day users choose a personal target—ten thousand steps, thirty minutes of workout or a custom bodyweight circuit—and the app tracks progress through built-in timers or optional integration with popular wearable devices. As soon as the chosen goal is logged, access to their favorite social platforms is unlocked for the rest of the day, turning healthy habits into the key for rewarding screen time and reinforcing positive momentum. Every design choice emerged from direct feedback. In a virtual poll comparing three color palettes participants rated white paired with green highest for its sense of wellness and optimism. We also ran a SWOT analysis to position our gamified social feed as more motivating than passive screen time reports. We then refined our prototype through repeated testing. By combining social accountability, gamification, and data driven design our app meets young adults where they already are on social media and gently nudges them toward healthier digital and physical routines.
