Inspiration
We were inspired by games like Pokemon Go that bridge the gap between fun and healthy, and after two years of a global pandemic, we realized how much humans crave social interaction. So we took these two ideas and combined them. The result: WatchMeWalk
What it does
WatchMeWalk is a web application in which you perform casual adventurous tasks in public.
On sign-in, you complete a random assignment in public. You are then marked by other users in your vicinity to earn fame points and level upon completion.
How we built it
We built our social fitness game using multiple technologies and platforms such as: React Typescript Docker Postgres GraphQL Mantine DigitalOcean Netify GoogleMaps-API Kubernates
Challenges we ran into
Integrating google maps API with React was a challenge. Handling in-depth user authentication. Streaming User’s challenges to others in their vicinity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of Aaryaman and his intake of copamine, and our real-time streaming of multiple user locations.
What we learned
We learned teamwork, efficiency, and coordination, and multiple new frameworks/technologies such as mantine and Google Maps Api
What's next for WatchMeWalk
Somehow finish assignments due at 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, hopefully shower, and then world domination.
